  2. I always ferret with friends but on sat went out aloe to have a go at a hedge row. It was a bloody nightmare they bolted on the wrong side of the hedge, I was jumping about all over the show. I was using purse nets and a 25yrd long net. Any advice on making life easier or organising the morning much appreciated. Cheers James

  7. Our hunts man advised me couple of years ago if you ever need to shoot a pig use a 12 bore a 2pence worth thickness away from the fleshy behind the ear and that will do it. He did have to shoot our old boar last year a 70 stone pig down flat with that method, a good safe method.as for sheep .22lr and cows need a bit more from the safety aspect of shooter not killing. Most calibres will kill but with a cow our hunts man says there are a few places on the skull but the shooter needs to stand in a safe place if the cow moves or falls you have to be able to get out the way.   12. Just been playing with a mk1 I had off here with 3 collars from diff people and accuracy of finder jumps a bit with 5 ft being right and 7 ft right but 6 is not far off 5 any ideas? Can they be calibrated? Cheers
  13. The hides your indignation in the woods sound like deer hides, you don't tend to shoot pheasant from a hide. You don't hae to hand feed everyday just make sure you've got your feeders full, and check which they use more regularly. If you put birds down you've got to pen them up or they will jus walk away at 8 weeks old.
  14. Chartpolski it's ped mate. I'm new to whippets. Surely you can build stamina as it gets fitter. How gamey are whippets? Cheers james
  15. Have been offered a pup from 2 good racing whippets. The owner of the bitch bought her to show and race, but excelled at racing. The dog is a good quality racer and wondered if a pup would make a good worker? Have never owned a long dog. I know my way around gun dogs and there breeding but not whippets and work quality.   17. Spent a couple of hours in the sun yesteray knocking up a new high seat in the yard. I had a pic to follow which i took the dimensions from, made a few changes, but looks good. Will put it up this week and see how it stands. Heres a few pics
  18. First trip crowing with decoys this year. only an hour to =kill near the cattle troughs was slow but 5 in the bag, pity i missed 6 more, but thats not concentrating enough. James
