  1. Thanks very much for the comments Gent's, much appreciated. Whilst looking for the right rifle I couldn't believe the number of them I saw that had been deactivated :realmad: Damn shame.
  2. Cheers Matt Apart from my SG and Rimmy I don't have much to compare it to I'm afraid, kicks like a mule to me but I've never fired a No.4 or anything above a .44M yet (very new to firearms) The grease looks and smells like modern synthetic to me hence my confusion. If you are ever up Lancashire way you are more than welcome to put a few rounds through it.
  3. Don't wish to sound like a c0ck but you'd be better off posting in the for sale section.
  4. I like the B&W one (No offence to the kids!) Hope you had a good day.
  5. Thanks for the replies Gent's. Matt, I sincerly hope it is an origional, the side is stamped as you said it should be. When you shoulder it it does feel a bit odd knowing what it MAY have been used for (I hasten to add that is not why I bought it, I bought it because I've always wanted to own one after seeing a picture of my Grandad holding one in WW2 - I think it was taken in Burma). Haven't experienced the "wandering zero" that they are supposed to suffer from but then I've only put 20 rounds through it to date. Any way, enough wittering here's a couple of pics take by the RF
  6. Hi all, Recently bought a number 5 Jungle Carbine in very, very good condition. Now I know this isn't going to be a popular rifle on here as it's a tad old (1947 to be precise) but I was wondering if anybody know's much about them? Reason I ask is I took the Butt cap off the other day and found that the butt is packed with grease, anybody know wjy this would be? Cheers, Mick.
  7. Eight weeks in Lancashire. To be fair FEO visit was delayed two weeks because I was on holiday, ticket was then delayed a further two weeks waiting for Doctors report. Did't hassle them, think I rang them twice.
  8. Thanks Ric, Rifle is mainly for historical interest (along with many my Grandfather "used one" in Burma during WW2) I have a slot for .308 so this was just for an occasional outing to the range. All the best, Mick.
  9. Hi all, Does anybody have any reloading data for .303 that they would be willing to share? Cheers in advance, Mick.
  10. Hi all, Bit of help needed, I'm filling out the paperwork for a one for one variation but I can't see where you tell the firearms department which calibre you want to relinquish, Any pointers will be much appreciated. Cheers, Mick.
  11. Hi all. Have always wanted and have a slot for an Enfield .303. I can't remember the term but I know you need a hydraulic rig for de-capping, could you tell me what it's called please? Thanks, Mick.
  12. Hi all, Are genuine Harris bi-pods worth the money versus the Chinese copies available on Fleabay? I don't mind the extra cost if they are worth the difference. Thanks, Mick.
  13. ^^^^^^^^ As above! Any chance of posting a link John?
  14. As for the argument that it's expensive, I'd say you'd have to shoot a hell of a lot of foxes before it cost more than a separate calibre rifle for foxes! My thoughts exactly
  15. Thanks very much Gent's. Will speak to my FEO, worth a bash.
  16. Hi all, Is .308 likely to be granted for fox or is it (as I suspect) way OTT? Thanks.
  17. Hi all, Can anybody explain what a one for one variation is please? I have a slot on my ticket for a .357M, if I wanted to change this for a .308 would that class as an one for one? Cheers, Mick.
  18. IMHO barrel length isn't dictated by your height. Your best bet is to try as many as you can and see what suits you, be that on clays or out in the field.
  19. Well Paul your mate is a member of the "Covern" and practices the dark art of "Sidebeside".. You have to roll up your trouser legs lift your left foot and chate the magic words, then youll be a covern member and youll look rather daft hehehe only joking make,,, each to their own, ive found most rifle shooters prefer the o/u i think its the single sighting plain,,, more rifle like That actualy makes a lot of sense to me
  20. I have a O/U and a semi-auto, Having said that I've never shot with a S/S.
  21. No it's single stage mate, Coming to the conclusion that it's an old model, doesn't bother me as I got it for bugger all and it shoots where I point it.
  22. Spoke to Sage today, Couldn't have been more helpful, highly recommended.
