Mate, I'm saying this with due respect ish. You've worked a dog, not a whippet, for four MONTHS, and you consider that is an appropriate amount of time for you to declare her to be a good working dog. Think about it mate, four months is a blink of an eye when it comes to working any dog. All lurchers, whippets etc, will take a couple of seasons really, before anyone could say 'they are a good worker.' What dog do have now, out of interest? Morton, do you remember, about 18 months ago, you said that 90% of ALL lurchers with a greyhound sire or dam, would definetly be shit. Then a couple of weeks ago, on gilbey's thread about using greyhounds, you said, yep, they'd be useful. Sort yourself out fella, and stick to to talking shit and drivel about beddys and beddy hybrids, cos you aint got a clue about proper running dogs ?

Worst dog I've ever had, regarding sheep, nothing else, just sheep, was a whippet/greyhound. Not too bad as a sapling, but as he got older, OH MY EFFING GOD!!! Had to sort him out. Got to watch a lot of these lurcher type dogs, ungulates are their natural quarry ?

Well, my two penneth worth. I love whippets, there are some members on here with some belting whippets, there are plenty of really good whippet breeders up and down the country. You are not going to breed anything better than what several of these breeders/owners are already producing. Save yourself the hassle mate. As a couple have already said, just get a whippet, or two, a couple of ferrets and just enjoy working them ?
