    I get you mate ?. But if I understand gnipper's question, it was about a beddy x whippet/greyhound, a 1st x beddy in effect. Anyway, very nice dog that mate, and a good size for an alrounder ?

    My ex brother in law had 2, brother and sister, from same litter, bred as you say. Bitch died of gastroenteritis at about 3 1/2 - 4 months of age. Dog went on to be a cracking daytime dog. Was worked on the lamp, but if he missed, everything within a half mile radius would be gone lol. Well bred litter from gutchcommon bitch and a 1st x whippet/greyhound bred from E G walsh's whippets. Dog only made 20.5" tts and weighed around the 37lb mark. Was rapid as f**k up to about 30 - 40 yards, and very agile. Brilliant nose on him, would work any cover, and was a really good fer

    Not really, but when someone tells me breeds weren't written in the pedigree, then puts a pic up of the pedogree WITH BREEDS WRITTEN IN IT, well, it sort of backs up what I said

    It's on there, someone put it up roughly 3 years ago. Not saying it was a fairly recent pedgree, might've been 20 years old for all I know.

    From what I can gather, what you've just written seems as though that's exactly what happened to this 'line' of dogs, leading to why it has fallen away ?

    Have a read of what you just posted mate. I'm pretty sure collies, bedlingtons and deerhounds are breeds. And the above 'pedigree' isn't the one I saw a couple of years back. There was also saluki and bull written in it

    First paragraph, top post. You say you 'may have had a couple yourself'! Either you did or you didn't. And if you did, is it reasonable for me to ask if you had a written pedigree? Plus, I asked if you, OR ANYONE YOU KNOW could put one of those written pedigrees up. Don't stress about it, no big deal ?

    Not having a dig at you mate, but have you, or anyone you know, got a written pedigree of a minshaw lurcher you/they could put up on here? Someone put one up a couple of years ago

    To be honest, I'm not really interested in minshaw lurchers at all, but I'll read practically anything to do with running dogs. Don't really get how anyone can say that the sort of dog they breed is 'their own' type of lurcher. If you ask me, there's no such thing as a 'minshaw' lurcher. They were, as far as I've read, a mix of all sorts of crosses, in effect just mongrel lurchers. Same as these coursing bred types. Useful dog bred to useful dog. Trying to read some of those wrongly written, question marks in place of a name etc, pedigrees is laughable

    Worked in the dales. So there we have it again. Without getting into an argument with anyone over any cross, type or whatever, most dogs, not all obviously, worked in the dales, will NOT have the speed, quickness, or whatever, that's needed, of dogs worked in several other parts of the country. A good rabbit dog in most dales areas, would see their catch rate dwindle quite substantially, if they were worked in a lot of southern parts of the country. Quite possibly why beddy/whippets have lost favour in many areas around the country. They simply don't have the pace

    Yep, I understand that. But what I'm trying to get at, is why 'working' bred types are hard to find. Or like you say, as poxon has indeed said, maybe nowadays, unless you know the 'right' people, then it's just pet bred stuff that is available to people?
