could be easily misconstrued, i fear, moll. Definately not a squirrel, no way of them getting to the island..I havent seen any rats about there either, what do people think of mink? Any signs of birds killed or any fish eaten?. If not then i'm still going with crow The lake isnt stocked with fish but thought it may be a mink as I have not been seeing the usual amount of birdlife on the lake recently, there seem to be alot less coots, moorhens and duck! I did find feathers and remains of a coot and tufted duck on the side of the lake though this could have been a fox as apposed to mink, I also found a dead mallard duckling of abo

the way you describe the small hole with contents removed i dont believe it was a fox either but dont be fooled into thinking foxes dont swim out to islands to predate on nesting birds they do :yes: Seen it happen a few times on my fishing ponds done a bit of work experiance before leaving school at the rspb at dungeness in kent see a fox couple hundred yards out on an island scavenging,only one way it got there and it never had a boat the old guy reckoned he see them swimming out regular Once they learn that theres easy picking out there then the birds have a problem. Ruthless!!!!
