Need to do some mentored fox shoots for FAC
murphymax replied to markha's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I would like to think that you would be shown safe shooting and rifle handling as part of your basic training with the military, and therefore you would be the ideal candidate to hold CF rifle on your FAC, just to point out the same rules apply when using .22 and 17hmr regarding safety, in my opinion yor FEO is talking crap, if you are suitable for one firearm you are suitable for any if you have a valid reason to hold the calibre you are applying for, i take it he only put a posotive note on your FAC application for .22 and 17hmr after mentoring for these ??? -
Who am i to argue, i can only tell how it is !!! so this must be wrong..... http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/171225-showmans-guild/ from another post on here ???

I can remember as far back as the late 60,s that all fairgronds used 22lr on the shooting gallerys back then, surprised that the laws still allow this.

my FAC is up for renewal in january, so decided to give them a call, at the moment i have 22lr 22/250 and 243, i inform ed them i intended to ask for a slot for 222 and or 223 and i was also wanting a 270, no problem i was told, now here is the confusing part, the force i come under has always stated that a bullet expanding head doesn't count as ammunition until it has been made up to a round ??? fine by me as they have said i can buy as many as i like and i want be breaking my conditions, however after speaking to them yesterday, regarding quantities i can buy and hold, they have said becaus

murphymax replied to dave1372's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Nah, I just can't get used to shooting out of a window , I prefer to shoot of the the roof or the bonnet lol ! Now I have seen you do a running shot :notworthy: but I have yet to see you do your long range shots yet old man I will be heading down to the other farm tomorrow night to sit out for a couple of hours and see if ole charlie appears, I will let you know how it goes 135 yards shot at standing Fox.... 160 yards shot at a running left to right shot... How far out is a long range shot !!! my best is 365 yards...but that was a great deal of luck I would say a -

3 More Foxes - A Quick Night !
murphymax replied to dave1372's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Nice shooting Dave, one time i will see you whack a fox with the night vision, you must get nervous when i am with you !!!...LOL... Now get your arse down to the far away farm and deal with those other Feckers , you know the ones, will leave it at that Jimmy -
Well done that man !!!

headed out last night and met up with my mate Dave to have a look at the 3 Foxes he had bagged using his night vision set up, didnt meet until around midnight. however by this time the mist was pretty heavy and getting worse, so after a chat i headed off into the mist to see what i could see (FECK ALL) So my mate jimmy and i decided to call it a night and head home, when driving home we passed a field that i shoot and the gate was open, NO SHEEP so in we went, this takes you up to the fence line where there is a big ravine between the field i was in and another field i shoot, when we got ove

respect for last nights fox
murphymax replied to murphymax's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
dicehorn.... You are correct.... thats why the fox runs amock in a field of newborn lambs biting tails and heads, causing infection and suffering and eventually a slow death if not treated, he takes the tail of a few and comes back for the rest. -
Cheers Dave. Nutjob? I'd gladly take that as a compliment, lol. Nice Shooting kenny14, try for a head shot next time you are out with the video camera, and if you can do it in slo mo even better, then you can say it was a nut job...LOL... Right Dave i have decided no more pictures of Foxes we shoot, lets get the Video camera out then we can share with all our nights out respectfully shooting foxes we can even do dvds like the well known fox controller, thats if we can get some urban foxes moved into our permissions, but we wont edit them, we will show it how it is, we will cha

respect for last nights fox

AMEN !!! -
Was out last night with Dave, and i shot this Fox at a ranged distance of 160 yards using my Sako 22/250 Schmidt & Bender 6x42 on top, using a 55 grain Nosler ballistic tip Home load with 38gr of H380 powder, this gives the killing power to shoot and kill Foxes instantly, as they deserve the respect of a humane kill Anyway this was shot as it was running down a field at a good pace, had no intentions of stopping, but i had other ideas knowing that the set up i had in my hands had the stopping power for any fox, aimed 4 feet in front of him and bang he was out cold, seen two more in the

I'm not sure what to make of this, I feel slightly offended at you poo pooing my experience, sure I may not have held a FAC as long as others, but does that devalue my knowlege and experience? also I am not sure what you mean by "it not cutting any ice", I merely included this information to "reassure" members who may not have seen me on the forum, that I was not anti shooting, and not a device to provoke. I find your post rather condecending. the thread is not aimed purely at fox shooters look through Sporting Rifle magazine, and many of the big game photos in there will be not what I would

I dont mind if you want to send the whole debate to whoever Make sure this picture is included.... I didnt notice the Ewe until the 1st Fox was shot,on inspection it was still ALIVE, its rear had been chewed by the Fox, i had to shoot this with my 22lr, to put it out of its suffering, the 2nd Fox shot was 2 fields away lying resting, he had most likely had a feed from the alive ewe as well. I do post pictures of Foxes i have shot, Not for any glory, but for other Fox Shooters to see whats, been happening on the nights i go out lamping,as far as respect for your quarry as your or
