  1. Hiya Mate, Thanks for your reply, I do dial in normally. I use grain bergers with Varget and get 0.5" groups at 200yds. The load is incredibly accurate. The problem is that I do a lot of shooting at night and the rabbits and foxes are so used to being shot at that I dont get much time to take a shot. Most shots are between 100-250yds and to make headshots at those ranges I need to dial in which is just impossible at night as I need to use a rangefinder to get the range right. If I can get a load that will go 4000fps I can zero it at 200yds and it will still give me point and shoo
  2. Hiya Guys, I put in for a variation on my FAC a few months ago for a .20cal. The reason for the variation was that I wanted a rifle for long range rabbiting and having tried a .17hmr I decided I needed something with better ballistics at extended range especially in the wind. Someone mentioned to me I should try lightweight bullets in my .243 so I played with QUICKLOAD to design the new load. I wanted a lightweight bullet pushed as fast as it is safe to do so to get a flat shooting laser like trajectory. Just came up with a load that will reach 4000fps pushing a 58grain V-Max.
  3. Totally agree and IMHO V-max isn't legal for use on deer; However I can find no 6mm SP bullets that will stabilise in my 1in12 pro-hunter. I would be a VERY happy man if I could buy 75 grain soft point bullets. John As far as I know there is nothing illegal about using 87 Grain V-Max on any deer. FYI I shot 2 muntjac with them last week, one of which was 395 yds away and it dropped like a stone with no problems. I find the key to humane dispatch is shot placement. I have heard people talk about using other bullets and they want to see the bullet exit to leave a good bullet trail.
  4. I am still looking for some ferreters to clear some rabbits off the land I shoot on. They have got a little lamp shy and I think ferrets would be the way forward. I would prefer 1 or maybe 2x experienced ferreters without dogs and guns. I did have some interest before, but I didn't get back to the guys in time and they are no longer interested. I am based near Market Harborough Leicestershire. P.M me if your interested.

  6. Hiya Guys, I am looking for 1 or maybe 2x experienced ferreters to come and clear some rabbits from the farm where I shoot. I would like to reduce the numbers before the crops get too high. I have shot some lamping but they are getting lamp shy and they are still abundant in numbers. I am based near Market Harborough Leicestershire. P.M me if your interested.
  7. As the title says I knocked off work early and got down the farm to do a bit of shooting. I didn't expect to come across deer, I was looking for rabbits hares and foxes but when 2 x deer turned up it seemed rude not to oblige. The first was only about 75yds away so I dispatched the small one with a head shot, the larger male was over 400yds away so I went for heart and lungs and he dropped like a sack of spuds. Long Live Exbal and drop charts !!! Fantastic afternoon. My smile says it all. .243 Tikka T3 Super Varmint. 87 Grain V-max.
  8. I have recently had some fantastic results using 37.5 grains of Varget behind 80grain Berger Varmint bullets .75" groups at 200yds. I also had some good results with 87 grain V-Max with 44grains of H414 which produced 1.25" groups at 200yds. Both the above were seated just off the lands by .003-5" Both of these combinations will dispatch a fox easily with devastating effects.
  9. Does anyone want to donate a centerfire to this old boy??? Lets save the penal system the time effort and cost of reforming these scum bags !!!
  10. I have shot literally 100's of rabbits this year with my CZ 452 .22lr. I advise you to get a decent scope on it, get a new trigger from rimfire magic (£20) and float the barrel (Remove the action and wrap sand paper around a piece of 1/2" coper pipe and sand under the barrel till the barrel is well clear of the stock) Then you will have a rifle that will be incredibly accurate 1/2" groups at 50yds and will be able to kill rabbits easily at 100yds+. Get familiar with the drop on your rifle and to do this zero at 50yds then retreat to 75 yds shoot 3 rounds at same target and see where th

  13. These are bullet heads and not complete ammo.
  14. I have held my FAC for a little over 8 months. I initially had .22lr, .17hmr and .243. I have just had added a .22air rifle, a .20cal rifle and a .308. No problems. If you have a just cause and you are responsible with your guns, what is the problem ??? A sensible local police force also helps of course.
  15. If you want a mega accurate shooting tool for rabbits and hares you cannot go wrong with a CZ 452. They are mega accurate (1/2" groups @ 50YDS)are dirt cheap and will do a great job for you. If you want to shoot foxes and deer later on get a .243 and the Tikka T3 is an absolutely awesome tool. Mine groups 1" groups at 200yds with homeloads. Don't believe all the hype about the .17hmr, I had one and sold it after using it for 3 months. The slightest bit of wind and its all over the shop. I use the .243 tikka now for long range rabbits till I get the .20cal.
  16. Refer to page 82 of this document >>>Home Office Official Guidance To Police 2002. It groups different calibers for the various quarries. Having said that, although it quite clearly says that .308 is not a legal fox caliber, I have a .308 on my ticket and its purpose is for "Any Lawful Quarry". Therefore I can shoot fox with a .308. I use a .243 on charlie and it literally turns him inside out every time. A .308 is a little heavy, but what the hell as long as its safe dead is dead. It is all down to the individual police force mate. Good Luck.

If you have your own ferrets and nets and live near to Market Harborough Leicestershire and want some ferreting land please contact me via PM. The fields are alive with rabbits.
  19. Hiya Guys, Is there anyone out there that fancies a bit of pigeon decoying this coming week. I noticed the pigeons whilst out ferreting last week on the rape and there are plenty to be going at. 1. You must have SGC, your own guns and ammo. 2. You must have BASC insurance. 3. You must look after the landowners property at all times. 4. If you are a fantastic shot with years of experience it would help but is not essential. 5. Sensible safe shooters only please. John Wayne and Wyatt Earp need not apply. I have all the gear, but if you have some too we can set up a few separa
  20. Hiya Guys, I am getting myself into reloading and am considering how to best clean my shell cases. Can you give me your opinion please. Ultrasonic cleaners or shell case tumblers ??? Please give only your experiences and not hear say.
