  1. If you are keeping it out you want a dog with a rough coat I know smooth will live out if the housing is good but a dog with a good coat will cope better probably a Deerhound x Whippet if you can find one a good hardy x.This x should take with the correct entering whatever you run it on .
  2. I get moxy from my vet 10£ I,v always got a bottle in the in the dog med kit 10£ for a 5 day course I think the exact price from the vet is 17£ for 50 tabs I,m never without them or NEEDLE AND TREAD.
  3. I can call mine off am I an anti as well .You sound like a few so called dog men I know making assumptions based on limited intellect .I don,t know who BIG ZOOK is but if their biggest problem is having a well behaved dog good luck to them.I was told by many that my dogs were,nt proper working dogs because I could recall them mid course, apparently they are lacking heart, drive, and what it takes, whatever that is .As the season ends it has become obvious that my well behaved heartless gutless dogs have accounted for more than twice the head of quarry that that these proper dogs have.I must a
  4. Most dogs can and should do a they are told, the problem is mostly the other end of the lead
  5. I still eat rabbit at least once a week I cook a huge vat of stew prob 4 or 5 rabbits after that nights tea the rest goes in pies and is frozen if the freezer is over flowing they are cooked for the dogs I also eat hare pigeon venison on a regular basis.I sometimes have as many as 10 to 15 dogs here and it rarely costs me more than ten pounds a month in food and that is often spent by the kids on stupid treats or chews.I swop game for bacon and pork chops from the local butcher and raise chicken that I get from the local chicken farm in exchange for pest control, they grow chickens for eating
  6. My thoughts exactly its nice to have a dog that can stick but it would prob be better slipping the pup in after a 2 or 3 mins rather than from the start .I would rather wait until the pup can do it on its own only the owner can judge when its ready. Or probably not in this case.
  7. Saying its only 16 months old as an excuse for bad behaviour I somtimes wonder what kind of people own dogs it should be under control of some degree before you even leave the house with it all of mine sit stay stand heel and recall before there six months old and definitely before they go out chasing round in the dark by a year old it should be pretty steady. I can understand youthfull keenes but once its run a few and caught after a couple of runs they should be settling down watching and listening and walking to heel when the lamp is of.Any thing else can be a danger and a liability. I sold
  8. superglue came about as a quick fix in the Vietnam conflict if someone needed emergency stitching.I dont know if commercial superglue has the same ingredients but moisture sets it so its ideal in cuts sets instantly.
  9. yes even if its because of the pain it causes they soon learn to duck or jump probably best to teach him to jump it.If its your yard lift the bottom strand so he can run under it without slowing down.
  10. Did you expect any replies on an open forum .There is probably very few on this forum that have,nt coursed and killed a few hare after the ban but to ask for land to conduct an illegal act having only posted a few times makes you sound a bit iffy to say the least.
  11. I would not use ferrets unless you think little of them. It can be an horrendous way to lose ferrets if you think any thing of your ferrets us a smoker.
  12. As long as he does something ie catches rabbits bolted or lamp,d does it really matter what x he is you never know he may well be one of the best dog you will ever own give him a chance.
  13. Does none of you catch any thing with your dogs it costs me next to nothing to feed my dogs.Feed them on what they catch .If they will not eat it raw cook it.If they can,t catch any thing take up a new hobby or get a gun.
  14. I sent mine back pointing out the fault and they fixed it free of charge
  15. I sent mine back they fixed it for free
  16. Billy Price has Irish Lady lines I,v a pup of the same lines 7 months old obviously well diluted now still one or two pups for sale I think from the same litter .
  17. I,v seen a couple of Ozzy,s pups run this year can,t fault them plenty of stick and gears I know one 16 months already doing 6 and 7s as good as any.
  18. Use hydrogen peroxide it draws out the dirt and grit bath it 2 or 3 times a day when its all clean tightly wrap thick cotton round the base of each nail then super glue or rapid epoxy it has to be thick enough to come above the quick, time consuming but it can be worth it in the long run, its better than a lame dog.
  19. Paddy I would love to put a genuine First cross Saluki grey over her but up here they are not in abundance . Have you ever wondered why
  20. I run on the fens round the Boston area it must be pretty good there,s people from every part of England down here on any given day.
  21. I dont want to put a damper on your idea but any one with a decent kc whippet wouldnt touch an unreg stud dog of 13 months old that yaps the pups couldnt be given away .there,s loads of whippets with papers that are struggling for homes without breeding ones no one wants.
  22. A few years back I had a pure whippet do exactly the same, six months later started working him ferreting and a couple of runs on the lamp all seemed well he ran well and caught many it was,nt until he ran with his litter brother during the day that it was obvious he was lacking. after a few long hard runs he started to favour the leg he went on to become a pet for a lad on a farm and made a good part timer I didnt see the point in keeping a dog that was obviously finding the going tough when pushed . No dogs are the same only you can decide on your dog and whether he,s worth feeding. hope for
