Same, it does my fecking head in. Jabbed all of mine, bar one this year that i am taking a litter from, my first in years, and all the kits bar the odd one will be kept by me, my friends and family. Only reason i'm breeding not buying in kits, is that i have a line i trust and want to contiune. But after this year, unless tragedy strikes, i wont need to breed another litter for 4/5 years at least. The problem is that everyone who goes ferreting and bolts rabbits reckons their ferrets are 'top workers' and worthy of breeding from, which is just total bollocks. Not to mention the pet/i

If you have the surrounding land, feed the middle bit, stick one pen in there, and dog in the rest of the farms. Put in feeders and if you can, go and hand throw / spin a bit of corn onto some straw. also make sure there is water, and cover, and keep on top of the vermin control. Give it a try with a few dozen birds maybe. -

I wasn't suggesting anyone try to coax any one elses birds, just observing that once you stick feeders up to feed YOUR birds you sometimes get a surprising number of visitors depending upon how near and how well / badly run any other shoot is. It's just a fact of life, and also works both ways. -
In the right situation any ferret able to enter a warren can bolt a rabbit, but that isn't working. Only a fool would enter an immature ferret, there is no need, and scuttling through the dark for the first time at under 6 months old and getting a good kick in the chops from the bunny can put off a young un, also they tend to fanny about. But each to their own.
