Was meant to get them thursday, but had to go to hospital, so couldnt make market. JUst waiting on next market day now mate, as everything is ready for them! Bloody busy at the moment though! Got a few quail coming this week

. . . . an cheap incubator or a couple of broody hens / bantams. If anyone can help or has any ideas, it'd be much appreciated!
-
Cheers mate! Speak to ss about the collar!

Cheers mate. That's the thing though, he is very strong for a whippet, but not that fast for a whippet. I guess that's the way he has been bred, toward the work, and not toward the racing. Don't get me wrong, he is fast enough, but just not a real speed machine (although that may also have a littler to do with some bangs he has taken. But aye, if he decides to chuck something around and hurt it, it gets hurt.

26 months jai, Cheers kieth! Also, out of interest, what is her height? And if you know it, rough working weight?
-
Morton - i agree 100 % that it is all in the breeding. I just think sometimes folk assume that any and all lurchers will better a whippet, and that just isn't true. Chart - I agree mate, although my whippet couldnt win a race to save his life
-
Im in agreement with most of that,i like whippets, ive seen what good uns are capable of,yet, ive also seen what they lack.A good smaller type lurcher,to me,is a better option. Fairplay matey, i'm not going to argue with that, but so far, i've yet to see a small lurcher better than my whip at hunting up daytime. Some of them couldnt find game in a telephone box.

I guess it's one of those things . . . . . they are always going to get compared to lurchers (naturally). And i would agree, when it comes to lamping, they are not going to beat a well bred, and handy lurcher, well, certain x's anyway. As i believe there are going to be some (many?) lurchers out there that can't last anymore than a decent whippet, or even last as long, there is a HUGE amount of shit bred in the lurcher world. But in general, if it was a quality whippet or a quality purpose bred lamp dog, then the whippet is going to fall behind. However, they are a lot of fun to watch, and lik

Cracking photos as always matey! How old is the black bitch now? She's looking in fine fettle as always!

Looks like a coursing bred saluki grey, what was the breeding and what did it excell on? Cheers. Hello mate, i can't remember her proper breeding, but i know she was well bred coursing stuff, from some forely cup winner or other, in fact she was well bred enough, and performing well enough day and night, that the lad came home one day to find his kennel door off and her gone. . . . . i only saw her run for a season, as she was a young bitch when she got stolen, but she was just class, and made it all look piss easy whereever she was run, from stubbled, to rough land, to sheep fields

Should be remanmed - 'do you think you have the best lamp dog'

there was aphoto of 1 of the pups you bred locked in a pen with 2 lambs by yer man millet surely this pup will b a chocolate fireguard Only if your hunting sheep

Come on Jai look back at the post and to claim its yer DEF a city fox from a picture is pretty funny . Now saying it looks like a city fox in former post I would concur with you . ATB Cookie Aye, i just saw i wrote that after I'd still hold that if i saw that round here, and had not been watching the fecker since birth, then it would 100% be dumped. And i wouldnt be complaining to be honest!
-
Fair play, they are proper on their toes here! I will clear my inbox in a min mate! Cheers for that!

A Ye, and when was the last time whin told any of us about his good dogs, or good days, other than in the form of 'i've got better, i've done better' -
Some very fair points! And i conceed it was a guess, of course. Just my experiance, and maybe its the area im from, but any fox you see here (and you may see them day time), as soon as they see you or realise you have clocked them, they are off like a fecking rocket! Only experiance i got with dumped city foxes, is down south, and like i said, the folk i been speaking to, who had witnessed them being let out of the vans, went around and moped them up, and apparently they just stared down the beam, n fear until too late. Seen quite a few in the city, and again, like you say, some we

calm doon jai ffs, get over it, ye were wrong, everybodys wrong noo an again, im sure i was wrong once back in 82 I got NO issue with being wrong mate, i just find it funny when folk give it the big "city fox from a picture, i've heard it all on THL now' blah blah. I'd say it was a pretty understandable assumption, and it 90 % of cases (those not involving a serial fox watcher) it would be correct
-
I love folk taking the piss, but if i said i had seen a fox the other day, broad day light, wandering around a horse paddock, looking confused, in poor condition, with a manky tail etc, and showing no fear of people or dogs, allowing a man and dog to approach it and get close etc without running off. What would your thoughts be? Most of the time it WOULD be a city fox, that's been dumped. The kind that don't run.
-
Mainly because of the combination of being in crap condition and wabdering round a small horse paddock in the middle of the day, with very little fear of a man and his dog. Would pretty much shout CITY FOX DUMPED, to me. But as kieth has now explained, it makes more sense. I don't think the initial assessment is that surprising, without the extra info that kieth has been watching it for some time etc, it's failry common knowledge is it not, that lots of them are dropped off in the counrtyside these days, and usually they are in poor condition, and just wander around lost, until someone

Lovely...good for you, im sure you know what your doing, i knew somebody would piss on your parade. Really gets on my tits when people start ranting on thinking they know better when they've only been in the game two minutes. Congrats matey I agree with ideation to a degree less stress the better for the bitch but I'm not in the right position really to comment as never had my own litter of pups before All the best matey Aye, i wasn't trying to 'piss on anyones parade', just asking question / offering opinion. Certainly wasn't trying to get at labs and lurchers. As for bein

I wasn't knocking you, i just don't think i have much interest in the sex, color, weight at birth, or taking a photo as the pop out, so maybe that;s why. As long as the birth goes well, and the bitch is looking after them, then i'd leave them be, and have a look at the sex etc, later on, same with weighing them, although to be honest, your eyes / easr should tell you there is a problem, without costant weighing. JUst seems these days, that with pups, and same with ferret kits, folk want to take all of the vital stats and take lots of photos and generally get involved from the word go, rath
-
Congrats and all that. And it might just be me, but i dont understand the compulsion to take photos of the pups as they drop etc, personally i'd leave the bitch to it, and just keep an eye out for any problems.
