just added a few extras to my baikal stealth
bicykillgaz replied to bicykillgaz's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
yes mate but i had to take about 2mm of the barrel band to get it to fit between the mod and the fore end. but its easy enough to do i used a little handheld dremmel thing, it'll certainly make life a little easier, i always have slings on guns if possible call me lazy but i just think its easier to chuck it over your shoulder and keep both hands free -

the gun will bear up fine its my shooting that might let me down i'm sure it'll be a good day the other bits will be fitted by then too so should be looking good, and i'll try get out with it before if i can so don't show myself up -
my mrs bought me one last year there ok just for spotting but you cant make out the outline of a rabbit at 40yrds you just get glare back off the eyes, i only took it out a few times. there not waterproof either which was a bit dissapointing. there ok just for checking whats about before you stick the lamp on and if thats all you want it for it would be worth getting but there nothing special, i dropped mine down the stairs and it stopped working i havent told the mrs yet but if i was gonna get another i'd save the extra.

just added sling swivels and a torch mount from thephotonshop.co.uk , i'm still waiting on a moderator cover for it and my mrs has wrapped up the garlands rifle stock cover which i can fit 6x 3" .410 rounds both are realtree neoprene by the way, i've also got a green laser on order from mallhk which i may or may not stick on it for good measure

fair enough mate i thought it was just a figure of speach its not something that i've ever thought to do, but i suppose you could make some rather fetching dusters! -
contraversial foxes x2 ??
bicykillgaz replied to langouroux's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i've shot a good few with my .22lr i personally wouldn't shoot over 50yrds though, i would have gone and stuck another in it though just to make sure it was definately dead and not just badly injured and laying low. but like you say if its all you've got and its on your ticket and you can be as sure as possible of a humane kill then go for it! well done -
i've got a cz-452 varmint .22lr with a centerpoint 4-16x56 with 30mm tube, sidewheel parallax, mil-dot il ret red/green i paid £195 but you can get them cheaper on opticswarehouse for round the £100 mark if you want something with less twiddly bits, there quality scopes and you'd struggle to find a scope as good for the money i looked at all the usual suspects and the centerpoint was far superior for similar money.

i've never used one of the stealth net i use one of them mesh things with the realtree pattern on them but its sew to a deben woodland camoreal scrim and it works a treat you can have it facing either way depending on what vegitation your near

i'm in i wanna play with the barret -
i've got a few LED lenser torches 2x V2 professional (did have 3 but swapped one for a metal 10shot magazine for my cz-452)1x v2 keyfinder and 1x v9 micro lenser just on my keys there all quality torches and far superior to anything maglite have to offer i also had a headfire revolution but thats disapeared. i've been trying to find a way of attaching one of the v2 proffesionals to my baikal stealth moderator but had no luck so far, i'll keep trying though.

fair enough

i'm not a fowling man so i'm probably wrong but i thought the non toxic shot thing was only if you was shooting on the foreshore or marshes and conservation areas, so surely if its flying over say a field the non toxic shot wouldn't apply as its where you are not what your shooting at, please correct me if i'm wrong though like i say i'm not a fowling man thats just the way i understood it

if its all you've got mate use it, i had a single barreled baikal 12b i shoved a recoil pad on it (took it pigeon shooting and after about 70- 32g n06 shoulder was smashed), i used it for everything including lamping fair enough you only get the one shot off then have to wait a while but you soon learn to pick your shots better, i had a lightforce mount on my hatsan escort too for foxing/rabbiting good set-up too

i second the cane corso verdict! awesome dogs in every respect powerful, fast and good stamina i might be wrong but i think it means something like runner dog in italian.

adjusting sights for differnt ranges
bicykillgaz replied to AzMaN's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
why do you need to adjust it when your shooting that flat? barely over an inch high mid range why make it more complex than it needs to be?, if you aim for the center of a fox's chest or just behind front shoulder you still gonna kill it even if the point of impact is 1.27" high, i wouldn't worry mate -
really sad news its bad enough for an adult but even more so when it's a kid thats not even lived yet! my condolences to the family, R.I.P little fella

i've never seen the yildiz so cant comment on that i know there .410 o/u are nice though, i have owned a hatsan escort and really regret letting it go as long as you use cartridges over 65mm long and 28g and over preferably 30g+ they are great guns and keep it clean just because its cheap doesn't mean it should be abused like some people do! like i say i loved mine and am gutted i got rid of it, don't listen to gun snobs who say they are shit, if you look after it and can shoot with it you'll hit just as much as if it was a browning, berretta or benelli have fun what ever you decide

will do mate cheers

does anyone know the first, second and mid points of aim for .22 hp subs as they are standard high velocity on there i've been told 30yrds, 65yrds and 2" high half way not sure how true this is as i have always zero'd mine in at 50m, but it does make sense to do it this way rather than guestimating at the minute i have no land i am only shooting on a friends permission or can get to a 30m range and would be able to zero at the first point of aim and be confident when back out on the bunnies. gary

Youngster needs advice
bicykillgaz replied to love_coursing's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
i suppose it might be possible but you'd have to ask your flo to be sure mate, i think you'd be better getting a .22 for rabbits if you want to keep the meat, then give it a year and put in for a dedicated rifle for foxes something like a .222 or .223 but speak to you firearms officer to see what he thinks your best options are. but i'd do your homework on .22lr .17hmr 222 and 223 so any question he ask you can answer then have all your questions worked out which you want to ask him. -
Youngster needs advice
bicykillgaz replied to love_coursing's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
you can only keep your gun in the cabinate that the firearms officer inspected so if that was at your dads thats where it stays, i have shot loads of fox's with my .22lr but only at close range around 50yrds no further as i wouldn't want to just wound it, these are questions you should already know the answers to though your flo should have explained ownership rules to you i think you should ring him, surely your dad can answer same of these questions too. -
my dog is eating his shit
bicykillgaz replied to dublinjohn2's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
could be a vitamin deficiency but my dog started to eat his shit it was because i told him off when we first got him for shiting on the carpet apparently its quite common they know you consider it bad after been told off so they try to hide/eat the evidence. suppose to not make a big thing of it but tell them its naughty clean it up and move the shit to where you do want it to shit, it worked for me. gary
