  1. Thanks MUSH, the pups are coming on a treat. we've gone with lactol as i needed it quikly and the pups are loveing it. Sadly the bitch an't doing so well thou and to top it off we are both knackerd. Get some chicken and white rice mate boil it up for about 5 mins if that, then add some peasand carrots. Then feed this to the bitch for a couple of days the blander the better it will settle her stomach and still give her goodness. We found the lactol too rich when we used it,apparently this is common so at the vets advice we used lamb replacement. If ya pups start shiiting through the eye

  4. spider, her sister and dam spiders dam. all the bitches from this litter are of similar size 22- 23.5 . all the dogs are big 25+ so its not that odd really

  6. hello and welcome to the huntinglife.

  7. Sometimes being quiet is a sign of pain, is there any swelling?
  8. Use a substitute bitch milk such as lactol it tells you what to do on the tin. we had to hand rear a litter of terriers for they're first week and they did very well on it. good luck atb A.R.D
  9. my dog licked a wound and it got infected, that cost me a course of anti-biotics and cream. id rather of paid for a collar it would have cost me less. now i have a few collars there handy when you need them and iv lent them to my friends when theyve needed them and they arnt that expensive really.
  10. we do a fare bit of summer hunting on the rivers with the pack, it keeps the pack spirit up and makes it easyer for packing them together when the real hunting starts. as far as pestcontrol goes pests are around all year and constantly need dealing with so we do alot of ratting in the summer too.
  11. im not sure of the laws in ireland mate so i dont know. but i would have to dock em legaly to send them to ireland. wouldnt you get paperwork to say the dog came from ireland anyway?
  12. iv had to use the jab twice before on differant bitches the first time the jab didnt work properly and 1 pup was born (stillborn) the second time it worked to stop the conception but the bitch was abit ill for a couple of days after. i dont use dog sitters anymore!! it cost me £15 per course of 2 injections and the bitches weighed about 7.69kg. atb mrs A.R.D
  13. The docking of tails act came into force in England on 6 april 2007 and in wales on 28 march 2007 amongst other things the act states, The pups must be docked at less than 5 days old, the vet has to certify that he/she has seen evidance that the dog is likley to work in the specified area. Puppies must be MICRO-CHIPPED either at the time of docking or before 12 weeks of age by the vet that docked the dog or they're representative. through exemption In England the following can be docked, 1) Hunt point retrievers of any type or combination. 2) Spaniels of any type or combination. 3) Terriers
  14. my 2 tear old lurcher gets them when she has been running on rough grass but only in the summer. i just keep them clean and they clear up. atb mrs A.R.D
  15. pucture wounds have a tendancy to get infected and like others have said staplers are for rips and gashes etc. My vet was kind enough to show me how to use a stapler properly. Puncture wounds sholud be flushed with liberal amounts of saline solution. i got told years ago by a terrierman "kennel 3, bury 1". atb mrs A.R.D
  16. when salt water is mixed properly its fine to use in the eye's. people tend to put too much salt to the water ratio and that will dry the eyes and burn wounds. its refered to as saline when mixed properly. iv had dogs for a long time and they have never got dry eye's from it. atb mrs A.R.D
  17. dont feed to much white unless its cooked because it stops the body absorbing the biotin properly.
  18. BATHE THE EYES AT LEAST 3 TIMES PER DAY WITH SALT WATER. mix 1x teaspoon to a pint of warm water and bathe the eyes, i use a oral syringe to flush them properly and a seperate piece of cotten wool for each eye to wipe them. atb mrs A.R.D
  19. i reared a litter of lurchers wainwrights as the main food and they were very healthy. we use several types of food here csj, wagg, vitalin and gusto and we add meats of various types cooked or raw veg and my dogs are healthy.
  20. Be careful! if you think your dog may have picked up mange or some other type of mite id use BENZYL BENZOATE you can get it from the chemist for a couple of quid. I use it as a dip when the terriers have been to ground but it can be used neat applied to the affected area. Word of advise dont get it in the eyes not yours or the dog it hurts like hell lol Also ivomec/ivomectin sould be used with caution if a dog has any collie in it, its something to do with the genetic makeup of the collie. atb mrs A.R.D
  21. if its from something penetrating the skin such as a thorn etc it will have formed a absses, there will be a head somewhere. if it is use a poltice for it, i use Animalintex its for horses but can be used on most animals use it wet for 5 hours and it will draw the crap out and take the swelling down this can be repeated when needed. atb mrs A.R.D<br>
  22. PROBIOTICS will help the pups guts. I have a lurcher that is allergic to all raw meat she will crap that much she craps blood goes off her food and generaly looks unwell if she eats just abit. Probiotics work by replacing the good bacteria in the gut. I use PRO-KOLIN+ "contains benifical microorganisms which are naturally found in the microflora of the healthy gut. Also contains kaolin and pectin - natural binding agents which coat the lining of the gut. Added Pre-biotics, a selective source of food for benificial microorganisms within the gut" they really do work stops my lurcher craping bl
  23. thats why i vaccinate before my pups go to new homes, theres to many people out there who can speak the words we want to hear when homeing pups but acctually dont put it into practice. it sickens me that people can do things like that. You should vet the people yourself and decide weather you think they are fit to have your dogs, even so you can never be a hundred percent and this kind of thing always happens. i tend to name and shame sicko's like that in the hope nobody elce falls for they're cruel trap and lets them be cruel to another dog. Hope the pup gets better soon pal keep up the good
