There was a series on tv called brittains hardest pubs, the one in brum had a couple of blokes on drinking rough cider ,and they said ,when you have had a guts full of this stuff ,YOU SHIT YOURSELF, so start there and work your way down to the cheap gear
  2. Thats the net bag , it was put there when we netted up ,placed in a large hole to stop it tipping up ,when the wasps came out the holes two rabbits followed them ,from under the bag .
  3. warmer , my Mrs swears blind she can see them
  4. I was asked to show my face on some land because the people next door were moaning, its a bit early for me ,and to warm, but as there all big field sets, i turnded out for a couple of hours, when we arrived rabbits were running all over the place,we started where we allways do on a set of about forty holes on a open hillside,we netted up and chucked in two does ,and a buck, that i had caught in a fenn trap last year, within minutes we had five on the grass, then disaster ,from nowhere, the air was full of wasps, and as i grabbed another rabbiti got stung ,twice on the hand, and another brace on the
  5. them traps look nice TP,i,am setting a few in the morning in some big sand sets , its the only place near me where you can get a peg in the ground, tried to set a few snares yesterday ,you could,nt get the peg ,or the tealer into the ground, could do with a weeks rain ,followed by a couple of good frosts
  6. i set a few fenns the other day,the ground was like iron and it took ages to dig out the beds, when i picked the first rabbit up i saw a fox looking at me from under some logs ,itried to take a snap but has i clicked ,he ducked ,i have snared a few rabbits in this spinney, but its a waste of time now as the foxs ,take or damage every one that you catch, the foxs had pulled one rabbit out of the set ,but not damaged it ,although it had caught the sun a bit, even so i took it home ,got its coat off ,rinsed it it salt water ,and dropped it off at cider Rons , for thirty five bob
  7. I like to see them, shows the mans doing is job, it used to amaze me how many stoats and weasels were strung up ,my grandpa had cats on his ,there would be uproar if you done that today.
  8. I went on a few driveswhen i was a kid,me and my grandpa,it was allways keepers ,farmworkers ,beaters ,a piss up and a good meal, the one i remember the most was in 1958 at Kimboulton in Cams, shire, over 200 hundred hares were shot in the morning ,but the big talking point at dinnertime was someone had shot a rabbit, everyone went and had a look ,all the hares were hanging with there heads bagged up ,and the rabbit had pride of place at the front of the game cart ,the keeper had even gutted it butchers style with a stick through the ribs ,lifting the liver up for inspection.i rememember that day
  9. My daughter has unearthed some old snaps ,this one was taken over thirty years ago at Swinderby near Newark,Notts. This place was alive with rabbits and we had some good bags here, the kit was ,an old motor bike battery in a gas mask bag, with a car spotlight with a plant pot taped to it ,plus two Bedlington crosses,a bit old fasioned now ,but,i think that ,that set up would still hold its own today.
  10. It is possible....I've done it on two different ocassions with the same bitch. It was back in the early 1980s in County Mayo.It was in a place called Foxford and on the first time the bitch caught 101 and on the second, a fortnight later, she caught 108. There were a number of witnesses to this and quite a few lads from Wales were present at the time. I must admit that at least 50% would have been squatters and the most difficult part was getting them all back to the road for collection. 51 squatters on a night...............................in yer dreams
  11. Iwent down to wells on sea last week, these berries were growing right down to the high water mark, the leaves were citrus like [waxy, oily,]and the fruit had a nice lemony tang, any idea as to what they are.
  12. there you go T P one small rabbit The fox must have seen the tealer peg a mile away and thought dinner . Well done micky, they still work them tealers. had another go today ,only set a couple and two fenns for some ferret grub,i,ve just checked, and had one, there might be another in the morningif i can beat the foxs,i,am going down to the wash in the morning for a few days ,i shall take a few snares down with me and try my luck there.
  13. There was two nasty murders a few years ago in the village where i live, every male over 14 was asked to provide DNA,one man did not ,the rest is history, everyone around here ,thinks that if our DNA had allready been on file, two young girls ,would be alive today.

  15. Contradiction I know but an old mate of mine wont kill a moorhen on his duck pond cos he reckons it's a good indication that no mink are present if he has moorhens. Coot and waterhen season started Sept 1,i never knew that till today.
