my personal choice would be between 24" to 26 " i run some tight fields so anything bigger than 26 would not be much use to me even tho i like big dogs ..thats about the size of an allrounder for me..the roe is the biggest quarry round me so i dont need anything bigger ....

went out for a shine about 630 ish back at 830 ish this was new ground to me at night. been a couple of times threw the day to check it out got a couple of bunnies and shot an hare on the way back to the motor and my lurcher reteived it .. good dog.. i even got a pic of the dog jumping ... ..sorry theres no pics of gun but the ground was as muddy as hell ..and its brand new.. and the dog would hold it .next time i take it i will take a bag to put it on if its muddy .

Bullshit , you want to get your self a dog , a hunting dog , have you seen hare shoots , how many get clipped bye shot and run away to dye slowly , dog kills it or it gets away , the weak ones get killed the strong ones live on to breed , .......... i agree with these... bulls milk your on your own its a fecking waste shooting a hare...

How is it trouble with another dog loose? somtimes the fox may get a hold of one dog while they are sorting it out andthen another dog comes and gets hold of the fox and starts ragging it but the fox is still hold of the first dog this causes more injuries to dogs than it would if it was left to sort it itself ....that what i think he meens...

cheers fellas i pretty happy with him ..its a shame hartley wasnt about today... them few fields hold some very very big fit healthy hares a test for any dog.....dam good to watch too...

i went for a walk to a spot i know which holds some very decent hares but not today .. .it was a bit of a risk iknew that but if i did put one up they are nearly always big buggers ...i so a couple but they so me first and were off ... it was just one of them days i suppose ..theres always next time . i could have gone to another couple of spots i know and proberly nailed a few bunnies and mabye a hare..but catching one of these round here would of been a lot more rewarding .....anyway i didnt so hes a few pics while i was out......my lurcher dre has just tured one year old on the 1st of jan

what you have to do is get your dog to trust theres somthing at the end of the beam evertime ..what i tend to do is at first is to walk up slowly keeping the beam on the rabbit as you get closer hold your lamp higer so the beam is only lighting the rabbit up and not behind the rabbit..i.e. then its not lighting the field behind it somtimes just in front of the bunny the dog looks where the beam ends ....keep doing this and he will get the hang of it ..it takes time ...thats how i do it and it works for me...people lamp in different ways... not saying your wrong my mate .. but if he kee

i think this thread was about sombody thinking of breeding of a 16 month old pup..now why we have a web site like this is for people who like to hunt and disscus hunting ..and in this case its about my favorite topic the running dog .i.e. THE LURCHER ..now when somboby dosnt seem very clued up on certain aspects about the LURCHER ..then sombody off this site should be then help this person with abit of friendly advice..if a few more people help the better the person wll understand......now if this person doesnt what to take advice that is up to he or she...no heres my advice on this thread ..t
