  2. Where l stay on the Isle of Lewis there are quiet a lot of single track roads with passing places every 200 or so yards and you can normally see the road in front of you for at least a mile. One of my pet hates are when you see a car coming towards you and the correct thing to do is that the car passing the last passing place to stop and go into it or stop opposite it to let you pass but they do not and carry on intentionally! My old man told me that this happened to a neighbour once and he put his feet up onto the cars dashboard to signal to the other driver that he was in no hurry and would
  3. Sorry to go off on a slight tangent but I used the ballistics software download from Hawkeoptics.com and tweeked the parameters to suit what I was finding in the field to produce a table. Apologies Bob Thanks for the info Bob, I will certainly give the software a bash and compare my findings ta Callum Callum Chaigunpro is really for airgunners I think but the trick is to calculate a BC value (see their help index) from testing. This is actually entered in the box questionably marked as 'ED @NTP'. Sorry again all for hijacking the thread. Presumably I can reply outwith

In all my three years on the Hunting Life l have never seen a topic that started of as a pi55 take turn into a serious one Ps sorry if l ruined your thread cheers Callum

To be honest l used to help the old man with shearing, inoculating them with medicines etc and rounding them up but that was as far it went for me experience wise as l never really paid attention when they were castrating them. I remember the tails and ears being cut with special scissors oh and l remember tagging their ears. Hated Cheviots as you had to use two ear tags on them as they would nearly always lose one of them and they were always harder to catch due to lack of horns. cheers Callum

think its a tail? Must be the new modern way of shortening their tails... been going on for years. Aye but when l meant new modern way l meant the new age sheep farmers, my old man and all the other old foggies never used this method, they kept to how it was traditionally done by their own forebears etc. cheers Callum

  17. I use one a Nikon l got on an eBay auction for £110 last year and find my one very accurate. To emphasize l used to use a lot of zero and bullet drop / wind drift calculators and when l used to use the zeroing guides for my rimmy l bought a 100 yard measuring tape reel so that l could measure out the advised measurements which was 53 yards in my case. When l bought my centre-fire l knew that measuring 200 yards etc. would not be practical hence my buying a range-finder and l checked its accuracy against my target which l had measured out previously with my tape reel and its distance was exactl

  20. I know that Scottish Gaelic and Irish Gaelic are similar but does that translate as "Our day will come my friend"? cheers Callum translate this: tiofaidh aer lingus Only reason l asked is its "tigidh ar la mo charaid" in scots Gaelic piss take, our plane will come, aer lingus I thought it was come by aer lingus but l wasn't sure what the word tiofaidh was as it was different from tiocfaidh from the previous Irish Gaelic quote so the pronounciation was different. Scots Gaelic word for come is tigidh and l guessed the Irish Gaelic word tiogfaidh was the same due
