Return? They never went! Just not allowed to build any more. But I agree, role them out nation wide. Lincolnshire was a Grammar hotspot, I was too strong willed and stubborn to take my eleven plus and my folks wouldn't force me. LOL. But I like the concept. That said how many kids get into Grammar schools off the back of private tuition and not through natural ability? Comprehensive/Grammar argument. I'd like to see the return of Grammar schools. Comprehensive schools are utterly shite unless you live is the very best areas, even then they're not all that.

This is the employment history of the coal industry. It shows a steady decline for 90 old years. It was an unprofitable business and needed reform which the unions were against especially after they saw what happened to British Steel. Coal mining is probably viable again as the costs have risen so much they're even talking about opening new metal mines in the SE as well. What gets in the way now though is the greenies, nimbies and EU regulation. The cost of extraction is always going to be the problem where you have cheap labour overseas and less regulation compared to here. As the cost of living and living standards rise else where it will become more likely over here.

Read a lot of the stuff already mentioned then started to read Sci fi like Issac Asimov that's hard going! Started getting in to books about WW2 aviation and stopped reading much fiction, I used to go to the library every Saturday and would come home with 5 or 6 books. After my degrees I got bored with nothing to study any more so decided to take up reading about the wars and political history of the early 20th century. I do enjoy seeing people's faces looks when they glance at my huge collection of books daubed with Swastikas
