Anyone in central scotland got a black eyed white hob ?
fresh earth replied to fresh earth's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Iv heard the same about silvers but never had the problem. Iv kept albino ferrets all my life and as much as they are able workers if i wanted albino's i would keep albino's. I have given black eyed white kits to a few blokes on this site for free and my mates all have at least 1 from my line. I have bred black eyed white to black eyed white for years probably 10 years and out of about 6 litters iv had 8-12 per litter no fatalitys and all kits were healthy im working a 2 year old hob out my jill and my old hob and he is the best iv kept regardless of colour. At the end of the day i could line -

My dogs all work and have been reared from day one for the job but i have owned and do own non working bred whippets that do the job. I think the most important thing is the way you bring the pup up if from day one its out with working dogs and treated like one it will only be what it knows to be. I do agree breeding plays a part but most whippets have working dogs within a few generations regardless of there breeding.

fresh earth replied to polecat84's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Thats like a bloody lion head you see in the local free ads must have been a released pet that one -
i have the cross just for a bit size for when im out mooching as all my whippets are 20" or bellow and iv tried lurchers of all sorts but dont have a constant supply of work for the bigger breeds. Also enjoy a bit of racing so a bit of fun in the summer at the same time. Pups turning out cracking realy switched on and hell of a fast for her age so we shall see how she works next season. Her sire owned by whipxgrey above is more than capable both out in the field and on the lure and as you can see from his avatar he retrieves aswel. Crush is coming on and ov no doubts she will do as i expect of

just the knuckle above the foot at the front its more pronounced with bigger dogs that have alot of growing iv never taken any notice of it before to be honest but a few of the older blokes i go out with were on about it. She is a bit bigger at the rear than the front so like your self i think she mite go another few inches. She is always wanting to run in circles the now constantly so i tend only to let her of when im out with her herself as she has run into one of my others a few times and gave her self a sore one. Recon she will be near the 30lb mark aswel.

I covered a 19" 24lb kc bitch with a 3/4 whip 1/4 grey and she struggled had to have the vet pull a pup the size of a 3 week old whippet pup out her if it hadnt been a greyhound vet he would have had to section her she had 5 and 1 survived all the others were an averege size barr the 1. Dont know if it was just that mating but i personaly would do the x the other way round in future to prevent problems. Agree with tom why not just breed pure ? . kris

Young lad i ferret with has about a dozen of them of simular breeding to my standard sized ferrets only difference is his only get fed when he can be arsed so there half the size and weight of mine and whether its down to them being fed a bit less there for needing to fight a bit harder in general either way they do seem alot less tolerent of other ferrets than my ones are and will kill strange ferrets and there also wicked little sods on the rats . Greyhounds are just classed due to size totaly agree with the above.

I may pop down this year . You selling anything at the sale your self ?
