About 2 months ago i went for a mooch with my terrier Gina and lurcher Bandit and also my two lads. Bandit spots mr long ears and off he goes, bunny makes a sharp exit into brush with Bandit in hot pursuit my youngest races in after .... we hear a crash and a yelp... i

The Den´s like them from serbia are not allowed in Germany ! Here they hunters have artifictuall dens to let the young one´s try alittle but they are never allowed to go in direktly in confrontation with the quarry ( wich is the fox , no badgers ) ! most of the foxes are old dude´s wich know what they had to do ! i was at one artifictual den were the old Fox that is used there was around 8 years old , a hard maneater and also bite a lot of dog´s through the fence ! ... the dog´s are never allowed to bite the fox ! Most of the DJT are really to hard and a lot dying at groundwork ! The wa

Hi all, i thought i would add my two pennys worth here......... I spent a lot of time in Germany and some of the Baltic states both in green and as a Civvi In Germany the jaeger or hunters sometimes use man made sets usually made from concrete and dug in for both Brock and Charlie i have seen that some even have a small opening on top for when the going gets tough they open this and can either retrieve the terrier or flush the occupent to the waiting gun. but, I have never seen the kind of baiting that is shown on the Serb website the

rew, the Lucas lamp only goes about about 30 -40 yrds and as for batt life well, it feels like hours when you carrying it the lamp that i have shown i got from an 'Ol boy who taught me a lot and has now sadly passed on I was the one carrying the batt and lamp he had the dog and the fun. this was in the early eighties. I know for a fact he was lamping around Bedfordshire in the middle to late sixties from other people i have met. i still use the lamp sometimes for a laugh but now with a smaller sealed lead type ba

This might be a blast from the past for some of you......... yep, thats what i was going for with some form of speed control got to ask at work as there is a guy who is the dogs b****x at that sort of stuff. As for batterys i've got the bloody things comeing out of my ears as i repair ups's (emergency power for the IT industry) so sealed lead or gel batts ,the sort that you can get ripped off for at Deben Arthur Clark etc, are not a problem  and lighter than a car batt plus they have a bit more girth (amps ) than a normal 12 v "lamping" batt. great thread this and good to see some of the other ideas that people have h

nice one lurchers 1 like the idea of the feeder pipe to the spool very clever do you get any problems with the tension on the line as its reeling in ?
-
cheers lads, As i said i've been useing that pic for reference. i have the frame, motor, cable and connectors all ready and sorted it was just the spool that i was stumped on!!! a mig coil looks just the job just a tad too big in the height, might be able to turn it down a bit on my lathe. bit risky though as they are not that thick wall looks like i'll have to drag it back out again and start before some b****r beats me to it and makes a killing on Ebay

hi old skool, get down the scrappy's and get some battery cable pos and neg off of a car as "normal" cable won't take the amps that are being kicked out. As for line .... sea fishing line ?, braided nylon string from ironmongers or dralon cord from a kite shop springs to mind as you can buy this in 100 meter spools. yes i think you will need a guide something along the lines of a Fairlead used on 4x4 winches just smaller poss with a spring tensioner (rear derailer from a push bike? ) to keep the string under tension as it is being fed onto the spool otherwise

cheers rabbithunter this bit demoralised my lad "For a 25 yard net, you want to knit 850 rows" :11: he is quick though, ......bit more practise won't hurt. :11: james b ..... we are doing it in hemp as i have found nylon can cut hands and fingers i know it will be abit heavy if wet etc but i like hemp more that nylon for purse nets so i thought we would give it a try on a long one any suggestions for cheap poles ? cheers lads any more tips are welcome cheers netrigger now managed to suss "bag" out thanks and there was me thinking it was in the hei

Hi all, trying to make my own long net (25 yrd to start) i need some help as to the height i.e. how many meshes high from top to bottom or how many meshes do i start on a ring/stick ? any pointers what so ever would be great also how to get bagging in it. is this taken from the length ? i know that i can do it with sheet netting but this is a project for me and my lad (keeps him off the Playstation ) cheers anton
