  1. OK, I'm going to attempt to start a decent thread on Polecats (or dark ferrets) if that's at all possible....and before you groan and start typing "they're not polecats, they're dark ferrets", read the thread and try and input something worth reading... I got an animal from Redtail on Sunday after my hob had passed away. If you'd have asked me about polecats before Sunday I'd have said exactly the same as most of you on here.....they ain't polecats, they're dark ferrets and they're just a money making scheme. Now bare in mind, Redtail gave me this animal so I'm not trying to justify a
  2. exactly...even though this site is full of helmets there are some proper decent people on here aswell.
  3. Im sure there could be accidents if the pet version was found in among the wild the 'pet version' wouldn't smell or look any different to a wild one though, surely?? they must do mate, as it could have gone very wrong for me many times, but my dogs never killed or even harrassed a domestic goat. No I don't doubt it with goats, I was on about foxes.

  5. IMO anyone who's had a dog and a cat at the same time would be able to get there head around this quite easily, whenever I've had a dog and cat at the same time the dog would sleep next to the cat and if it saw another cat in the garden would go nuts. The thing I can't get my head around though is that comment about someone hunting feral dogs with lurchers and yet the lurchers weren't dog aggressive....that doesn't make sense to me at all. Mainly because how on earth would the lurcher know whether or not a dog was feral when it saw one out and about? You say you raised foxes with th

  7. ....well went over to pick my new stinker up this morning from redtailhalk1. It was a pleasure to meet him and his family and great to see little kids getting involved in looking after the animals and enthusiastic about getting out in the field. Nice to see such well kept animals and a crackin hawk aswell. New hob is currently getting settled in his new home. He's had a bit of a ragging from my jill who decided that even though he's more or less the same size as her, the fact he's still a kit means she should drag him into her nest box every 5 minutes. She's also been asserting her au
  8. 100% agree about putting a collar on them regularly before you take them out....otherwise they spend half the time rubbing the collar against the floor instead of concentrating on what they're supposed to be doing. Makes it easier actually putting the collar on them aswell when they're used to it. Bloody hard work putting a collar on a squirmer!
  9. As some of you might remember, I put a post on here the season before last about my hob and his hopeless performances out in the field,,,,,in short, he wouldn't work, just refused. Anyway, over the course of last season I persevered with him and by the end of the season he was working like a demon, clearing warrens brilliantly, even dragging rabbits out of their sets by their heads, absolute class! Anyway, I've been away for the last few weeks and got back last night. Driving back I was thinking about how much I'm looking forward to getting back out with the ferrets. This morning just b

Which is simply incredulous. you honestly coming on here to give us an english lesson?? if you also look on facebook and forum dwellers a large population of them aint even english :hmm: Hence "so
