  1. what advantage do they have over normal ferrets? have you got any pics of them?
  2. Anyone got any decent pics of longdogs?
  3. I think this would be worth exploring further. Has anyone done this or got info on how to go about setting a trip like this up? Or contacts in Europe? it looks like hunting with sighthounds is illegal, only tracking shot quarry with dogs is allowed. I'm researching it as we speak but it doesn't look like it's as easy as I though
  4. soooo, 2 or 3 blokes were poaching, you shouted, they ran off.....sensational!
  5. why look for a fight instead of telling them its your permission,i think you will be the one lucky if you meet the wrong people poaching He did'nt get the chance to tell them it was his permission, they ran haha when he approached them. correct me if I'm wrong but if your poaching and someone shouts you, isn't it standard practice to run??? or do most people amble over and chat about the weather?
  6. Nope, they're novelty ferrets....Kerching!
  7. Mine has done that before and she didn't even have kits, it probably is maternal instinct. Just pick her up with the other hand and she'll soon let go. Mine only did it a couple of times and hasn't done it since.
  8. Jesus mate - you're superbly confident that you are able to take on - you and your quad - these 2 or 3 guys??? Not quite getting that to be honest. That's just a wee bit silly. Not sure what you hoped to gain by coming on here and spouting that off. When we were wee laddies we used to knock doors and run like f**k!!! The only doors worth knocking were the doors at which you were guaranteed a good chase. I can see you and your quad are going to be busy over the next wee while. Take care and be good? And make sure you're reasonably confident you can eat it before you bite it? GET OFF MY LAND
  9. dont talk crap , Are you honestly going to tell me anyone who works there lurcher on here has never poached? It's always more fun when you're over the fence! A jumped up little faggot actin the big man on here he's lucky he didn't run in 2 me and my mates lampin, don't think his fingers would be up to typing
  10. nah...all things that give you the most pleasure are done solo....ALL THINGS
  11. I'm in Poland at the moment, been having a drive around over the last few days looking what quarry is out there ready for when my lurcher comes with us in December (when rabies jab/passport etc. is sorted). There's thousands of acres of forests and it is absolutely heaving with deer. My lurcher is a bull/grey x wheaten/whippet/grey is probably only going to make 22 tts, max 23 tts....is she going to be able to handle deer at that size on her own?? I'll be getting another dog early next year and before now was thinking I'll just be getting something to use for bushing rabbits back home but w
  12. yeah that's understandable, but I find it hard to believe that all of these wheaten lurchers come out of working wheatens when working wheatens are so closely guarded....for obvious reasons as you say.
  13. There's a reasonable number of wheaten lurchers knocking about, not necessarily first x but quite a few with wheaten in them further down the line, but you very rarely see or hear of pure working wheatens. Do people think a lot of these lurchers have non working KC wheaten in their make up? and does anybody know of a lurcher that definitely has KC wheaten in it but still make a good worker? I know a couple of people have posted about how they've had wheaten lurchers in the past that haven't made the grade and I wonder if the use of non working wheaten in the make up is the reason, especiall
  14. I had a hob about 15 years ago that had something similar, all of it's muscles on its back and back legs just seemed to waste away in a matter or weeks. I thought it had a spine problem and in the end it was dragging its back end around but the vet inspected it and didn't think it had damaged its spine but couldn't really tell me what had happened. It could only stand on its back legs if supported, otherwise it just fell to the side. Just kept getting weaker and weaker and in the end just died. Never did find out what caused it and never seen it since.
  15. trenchfoot, I have some advice for you.....don't log on to your computer when you've just got in from a night on the lash!
  16. nice dog! is that a wheaten/grey? Yeah wheaton with Irish Terrier, deerhound, got any more pics?
  17. I go to Poland every 6 weeks to visit my partners family and just had my lurcher pup to the vets for the rabies jab so as of November she will be able to come with us. There's mile after mile of countryside here with no buildings for miles around. Seen loads of deer, rabbits and hares. Next season my pup will be mainly on rabbits as it'll be her first season but I was just wondering if anyone knew what the laws were on Poland on hunting (if they have any!), and what it's like for hunting? They have some pretty harsh winters so not sure if the ground will be any good for running a dog on in
  18. The problem is you have hunters that strongly support hunting, antis that strongly oppose hunting, but the people in between that don't have mega strong views are easily persuaded that hunting is cruel and if they have to pick between support or ban they'll always pick ban because they don't have the knowledge or understanding to see it from a balanced point of view. You ask anyone on the street if hunting a rabbit/hare/fox/deer should be allowed and they'll say no. I had a conversation with someone at work who said I was cruel for hunting rabbits and I asked her where does she thing the ham
  19. If anyone ever gets the chance to visit Auchwitz I strongly recommend they do, I went last year and it's easily the most shocking thing I've ever seen. No one who goes there would ever have even an ounce of compassion or forgiveness for a former Natzi whether they were following orders or not! It actually made me feel physically sick!
  20. A bloke who lives down my road has got a sticker in his car window saying that sparrowhawks are destroying the British songbird population....the same bloke owns a cat Another person who lives opposite us has 11 cats!!!!! if each cat catches just one bird a day that's over 4000 birds a year, and that's just from one house....and I bet most cats catch more than one bird a day! I used to have two cats years ago, they were in the house once when I got home from work so I let them out the back door and went straight to the bedroom to get changed, I looked out of the window and one had a
