  1. all the scottish members are angry....oh hold on a minute, that one's true
  2. What I was trying to get at was which would be the most effective overall. Obviously areas where there's thick cover a terrier (or spaniel) and lurcher combination would work best. A small lurcher that would enter cover would also push out rabbits, just not as many as a terrier. So the lurcher would do the job of the terrier to some degree, just not as effectively. Whereas in more open areas, two lurchers would be better but in that situation a terrier would be virtually redundant and would probably end up running round yapping but never catching. So in that situation the terrier co
  3. Why is it too late to change her? If you do it gradually you can switch them to raw with a bit of work. I got both of mine from rescue and both were on dry cat food when I got them. They now eat nothing but raw or eggs.
  4. And for just rabbiting, wouldn't a beddy/whip alongside another lurcher work just as well as terrier and lurcher combo?
  5. No worries. Just thinkin in terms of rabbiting then, are any of the others any good...russels, lakies, beddies etc or are they all just mainly digging dogs?
  6. what are the best terriers in terms of obedience? What I'm after is a combination that initially will be good for rabbits but is able to step up to other things when I've had a season or two or rabbiting.
  7. If you can have a max of 2 dogs what would be the most effective for day time rabbits... 2 medium sized lurchers, at least one of which that will enter most cover or a terrier and a lurcher? Thoughts from people who've worked both combinations in the past would be helpful.
  8. nothing wrong with good quality cat food ! have you ever looked how much actual meat is in cat food? both cat and dog food is full of fillers that ferrets can't digest.
  9. Nope (Wrexham)....if it does though I'll be sacking off the work this afternoon and taking the mutt for a long walk.

  17. I've been watching some of the coursing vids on youtube and the majority are salukis or saluki crosses wearing down the hare for a few minutes and then right at the end they kick up a few gears and put in the strike, the last 5 or 10 seconds is pretty impressive speed. It's probably a stupid question but if they're chasing something, whether it be a hare or a rabbit, and there isn't much distance before it hits cover do they generally know to put in that extra burst straight away? I've never seen a saluki run apart from on videos, they're obviously running at a fair old pace to keep up with
