  1. Always knew before I got one that salukis were quite ignorant at times and very head strong. The bitch I have now is my first running dog and is pure saluki and has been quite the handful to train but non the less great fun to have. Just not at 2 is she starting to really show signs of maturing a little. As a pup I worked on the basics with her as much as possible to try and have an advantage as some friends said she would be a task to train (these being collie x lads). I used treats for a short period and moved onto a lot of praise every time she returned but it just wouldn't work. She's 2
  2. Finally seems as though my saluki bitch is maturing. Recall is now 100% better than before & she will actually jump for me on command. Result lol

  4. Dry food wise I've never had a problem with Skinners, Alpha, Beta or Gusto.
  5. I have a bitch coming up 2 this march and she stands around 25'tts, Kc Pedigree saluki the grandsire is khan. With the papers theres the line breeding tree etc... and I was wondering other than Khan and Cruise of Shildon did any of the other pedigree's show good in the field ? Just curious to know about the history behind the dogs blood. Thanks
  6. Can say its similar were im at too. Just have to hope for a bit luck ATB
  7. Not sure how many of the members from here use Facebook, most see it as nonsense and I understand why as its s***t really. Like most social media websites there are a few ''follow'' pages etc... and ive been following this page for a while now & they seem to do some really good work with the dogs they take on. Most dogs are looking for re-homing and every now and then there is the odd diamond in the rough. So.... for those who use facebook why not give this page a look at if you already havnt ! http://www.(!64.56:886/lurchersos
  8. I agree with a few of the other members. How can anyone be sure that the dogs mentioned are the best in the country ? Surely the thread will just have people who have seen or favour a certain dog. I mean I know lads that have had very good dogs, one being the best I've seen run in my life time. Then people also have a different taste in how dogs run, some like a show & some like the dog to be up and at em ! And for the lads that have said if you had a top dog why keep it quiet ? Well lets say there are dog men who haven't a clue how to enter a comp etc...
  9. I thought it could have been something along those lines, a few friends have took a look and that looks to be the cause.
  10. Just been giving the bitch a check over for grazes, cuts and fleas/tics etc... Come across a very small pimple on her back left and front left leg. Its a hard but small lump, don't think its a buried tic as the lump is just skin colour, doesn't look sore or seem to aggravate the dog but I don't think they should be there. Any ideas what it could be lads ? Nothing serious I hope. Thanks
  11. Apologies first of all if my grammar for the post title isnt right, im not an exact brainbox. Anyway more to the point, lately my pup has really started to grow and partially fil out although i think theres still plenty of room for that. She's 5 months and standing at 22inch, Ive asked a few mates what age they began to run their dogs and all have gave different answers ranging from 8 months onward. Shes a pure saluki and i was planning on waiting till around a year. But i was wondering what some of you lott think thanks !!!
