Visited one of our favorite farms this morning and was going to ferret a bank right by the farm buildings but due to it still being overgrown and holding quite a few partridges and pheasants we moved to an exposed bury running alongside a dyke on the far end of the farm, thus keeping the farmer sweet and making for easier ferreting. On arrival it was plain to see that mixy had taken hold and we expected lots of digging but was pleasantly surprised only having to dig twice. We were only out for half a day and really just wanted to show willing so I just zigzaged the longnet along the bury and h

Felt like shite this morning so decided to spend a hour out in some good company to clear the head and get some pratice in for the coming season. Very tricky these buries as they are on a steep hill with cover all around so the dog has to work hard for its living. Again no nets just Ted Linda and Nigel.....................................First rabbit was nailed by Ted before he could make for home and the second plucked from a hole

I am dying to get started this season but the weather is far too warm and the ground way too hard, but as we had some rain last night I thought I would have a quick look see with Ted this morning while there was still a chill in the air. Didn't take any nets just the dog ferret spade and locator. I only did a small bury and to be honest the dog didn't stand much of a chance as there is cover quite close on both sides. The first rabbit that bolted Ted nearly connected with but a badly positioned tree stopped him in his tracks but he recovered and ran it into the cover of a nearby hawthorn bush.
