  3. Deerhounds in Ireland. Is the current stamp of dog we have in Ireland up to the job, I love the breed, I had a deerhound cross last year that died on me, was only a pup and was a cracking little thing. I am told by them in the know that the deerhound is no longer the beast that it once was, the breeding is just not there anymore, am I onto a bummer here if I got one. I want a big strong dog that will do the do’s with Charlie. Not sure if we have anyone in Ireland working this breed!!

  5. Was out some weeks ago with young lad popping rabbits. Field was full of them, but a strange that happened that set my mind wondering. We were tight up against a ditch with a dry channel running between us and the next field. The young lad poked me in the side and made movements to the alert me of the fox that has appeared in the channel with rabbit in mouth. The fox continued to enjoy his grub while we looked on, I could have shot him but sometimes it’s nice to enjoy such a rear sight that it unfolding just feet away from you. If this fox came so close to us without realizing that w
  6. I am hearing what you are saying, buy, what would be the end result if such a young dog did get a bad experience from chasing a fox. The dog could get nipped and I am sure would have some sort of effect on him going forward. Am I wrong? Again I am hearing what you are saying, but, are they not big babies at the end of the day, and I think that we the owners need the training to restrain ourselves from running them at such an early stage. Am I wrong? Let the shooting commence.
