I glad the old fella is hanging in there, I was filled with saddness when I first saw and started reading this post thinking the worst. I lost my first saluki at 10 years the difference being his tumour had spread to his liver and I lost him. He too was still hunting hard 2 weeks before loosing him, regretably I missed my chance to get a line from my dog not expecting to loose him when I did. So in short I'm really pleased you have yours pups on the way and hope Percy is recovering well which I'm certain he will as no doubt he is a tough old dog, best of luck on both counts. Regards

All real nice Salukis, I shall be keeping an eye out for how the young'uns come on this next season best of luck with them. Khan is looking well Titan real nice head on him. Regards Mark

Nice dogs mate, both look in good nick. The thing is with photos is it only take the dog to breath in or out for them to look ribby or not.

Cracking pups Best of luck with them but I doubt you will need it. Danny has not half settled in well judging by the stick your lurchers getting lol My bitch Ameerah is their Ant (litter sister to Dixie Queen)

pup's all over mate i dont think so let's be real mate there is a very small number of saluki owners on here and the ones i talk to are not in the coursing game to breed pup's to make a quick buck, they are passionate about there sport, the price of saluki's are high for a reason,to stop them getting in to the wrong hands, IMO there will never be as many unproven saluki's as there is bullx's and the like's,im not knocking these breeds but they are realy over bred.but thats just my opinion. youve got it you dont se pure salukis geting passed around like bullxs you no why they dont ge

Thats how I find Salukis as well Shaddow, mine are just as fast as anyone of our lurchers and to me far easier to handle, I've always found my SalukiXs to be more difficult in that respect.

I've 2 here one 5 the other 3 this year lost a 5 year old in a hunting accident and prior to these I had another till he was 10 years old. My are not for breeding other than if want a pup myself. I've bred one litter and sold them £150. My next dog will likely cost me well over £2000 to bring into the country and I'll certainly not curning out countless litters or selling to anyone that offers money. I run Salukis because they are far more robust than the crosses IMO and are plenty fast enough for my kind of huntingf and if you work them to their strengths they will have no trouble takin

How Much To Get A Fert Castrated <- (Spelling)
Meerihunter replied to gilly-93's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
Not sure where this one is but it is out by B+Q it's the main surgery right out the kingways, I only really know Ian Hunter the horse vet there. I'm not from these parts and rarely use vets with the dogs or ferrets if need a dog vet I go to the track vet in Fife so I've not realy had much to do with many vets around here. -

Who do you use mate? Steves missus took my hob for castration to the vets in Blair...............apparently, Blackness has a decent ferret-friendly surgery? Parkside we are with them for our horses and were recommended them by a friend with ferrets after being quoted £60- elsewhere. -

£40 in Dundee for either castration or vasectomy, same price. Just had 2 of mine castrated and one snipped. -
Some of the wolves I saw footage of with pairs Taigans working where very tall, and of large GSD kind of build about them.

This is why Tazi and Taigan work wolves different to the way your Stags do Coyotes. It would be suicide for them to go straight in for the throat. I dont want to be rude but that comment is really ridiculous. I cant believe anybody would type that out. There could be nothing further from the truth. Pinning the throat is about the only way a dog can not get bitten. My stag would pen them 50 pound "wolves" as son as he caught them. I don't mean to be rude at all either but I find some of your comments at odds with other comments you've made. You say your Stags could not hu

Very nice anymore pics?

I think you hit the nail on the head there, the average Tazi is not really cut out for work on wolf they are too small these are probably only 25" and more suited to fox and hare. That is where Taigans come in. When you say your considerably larger Stags would likely be killed by your 100lb+ wolves, would these smaller Tazi not in a similar situation with this all be it smaller Wolf? The footage I've seen of Taigans taken wolves have shown very large wolves. These are Taigan. Truely very interesting hearing from those that have experience in such things.

Thanks Richard, which one? They were both workers but unfortunately the Black one hit a tree chasing a rabbit shattering his hip and leg (too much greyhound minded)and the woolly one was a touch too reckless and not robust enough he was alway off and on lame, I lost him aged 5 to pyothorax.

I agree, that it went on for a long but that appears to be what it takes to catch and kill a large wolf with dogs, short of using a gun or a large shepherd dog like the in the other video I posted once the wolf is caught, how do you make it quicker? You see the wolf go at the dogs and now and again, were it not the other dogs the wolf rushing the wolf, it would likely kill the dog. If it was a bagged wolf would there be a need for the Laika (tracking dog) which is present??

http://vision.rambler.ru/users/stepikz/1/2/ Tazi on wolf I think most BullX's would get themselves in a whole lot of trouble on a wolf.

I'm ready for the flack !
Meerihunter replied to BellySlater's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Pure Bedlingtons don't moult, bedlington X grey/whippet won't moult in the typical sense but it might strip out by hand. Westie's are not worth the hassle they will cast and they suffer from all manner of health problems, horrible smelly little dogs. BedlingtonXs will typically be far more laid around the home than a pure bedlington. Regards Mark -
You Laugh but they are actually used on bears in some regions. Great dogs.

How about you teach her to respect the bird more? Ie check her with the collar everytime she is very close to the bird so when the bird takes the hare she will have nothing more to do with it or a real nasty bird to teach a little more repect?
