Peruvian males fly about 1lb, my bro has had two males & both were capable of taking rabbits, one took a mallard off the fist, they are very nice looking hawks, keep their juvenile plumage colouring for 2/3 seasons before going darker. They are a different shape to your average Harris, their skeleton is a lot lighter in structure & different shaped wings, tail etc they are more suited to feather as turn a lot quicker but don't have the weight for smashing into cover, he flew his mainly off a t-perch, I wouldn't say they were any quicker in a straight line than a "normal" Harris but gre
