    I have 2 jills that i bred myself, sisters both excellent workers but both work in totally different styles. One will nearly always get a rabbit to bolt unless in a stopend, the other will always try & kill as soon as it finds it's rabbit & waits to be dug, they have both accounted for plenty if rabbits. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with ferrets, suppose it's like terriers some are hard & stay until dug while others will stand off & bay until they move there quarry. It can be a pain digging to a ferret but I an always guaranteed a rabbit, do people

    Mal, green mutes/slices are usually when the hawks digestive system is empty & living off it's fat reserve so if your dropping it's weight I wouldn't be too worried just don't let it go under. I prefer to give a small amount of rabbit meat when training & plenty of fur at end of session so they have a full crop & feel like they have had a good feed as not much nutrients in it & gets fat stripped off & crop cleaned out ready for hunting, chicks can be a bit slimy if feeding them I always de-yolk them.
