  1. Lol Moxy, no, but the boogyman ain't go nowhere to hide now has he
  2. There's a mouth full of an awkward title. So I took the plunge before Christmas after a fairly in depth conversation with an Australian seller on Ebay. He assured me this kit would increase brightness and visible distance over a 100w halogen, and only draw 1/3rd of the power. What's not to like? We had a long chat about colour temperature and settled on 4300k (for kelvins and not thousand). I've had it out in anger tonight and it gives a light colour pretty much just like you'd get from a halogen light. Now, I do have another 170 Striker and a 100w bulb, but I've not compared them dire
  3. Thanks Moxy, I ordered one off Ebay just yesterday. If it isn't up to the job I'll take you up on that offer
  4. I'm just biding my time until granite becomes the new oil.
  5. You're right actually, I was led to believe the forces were beefed up only since the oil discovery.
  6. They don't want to invade, they can't anyway. But if they had the will to do so, there would be no public posturing from their side. It is not so long since the Falklands were still pretty much undefended. Had they wanted to retake the islands, and been successful, seeing as the UK has no aircraft carrier, how would they have been removed?
  7. I've done some soldering, but after watching that it's quite clear to me, despite it working, I hadn't a friggin notion what I was doing
  8. "Stuff" has been brought ashore around here in the past.
  9. Was up at my friends house, told me about a large piece of trawl net in the weed. He'd no use for it so off I went a looking. Got a large bit 10-15 yards square, going to come in handy when I make my chicken run to keep wild birds out of it. My friend does a regular check along that shore, it's unreal how many large logs wash up and he's down with the chainsaw at them, almost keeps him in firewood for the year. Anyone else go scavenging along the sea shore for bits and pieces?
  10. Needs to be suitable to put on lead for lamping.
  11. After a fight, which I won on points, I've installed the fcuking thing lol. Get's bright quick enough not to be a problem IMO. I have neglected to get myself a switch... That was smrt... Seeing as it's foggy drizzly out I'm not going to comment on performance, as it wouldn't be fair. Hope tomorrow night is better than this sh1t.
  12. Yes, they should be banned. Can start a fire as easy in a crop field as they can on a dry hill covered with withered grass. Less wire in them now for cattle to eat I think but they're still dangerous. If I set fire to someones field or hill I'd be arrested, yet these things are for sale in shops.
  13. My 2 cents worth would say to be where you want to be just as it's getting dark. Then work later into the night depending on results. A fox can be around any time of the day or night. Even with the length of the night this time of year he can still be out well into the day light hours. Loads of variables with foxy, what's his territory, is he passing through, how far does he have to come, has he been held up, where's he going and why? A lot of it is luck unless you have concrete info from sightings or from trail cameras etc. Wouldn't be much fun if we always knew when and where they we
  14. More chance of getting a decent night out on the lamp, it can't rain 24/7.
  15. Quite correct. Still nothing to do with climate change climate change is a natural phenomenon but global warming is a job for the boys Climate change is the new name for global warming, as GW wasn't a correct term. Now we've global dimming as well. I'm prepared, I've my jacket and a good torch, dunno how the rest of ye will make it through though
  16. Quite correct. Still nothing to do with climate change
  17. Evolution is to do with animals not climate change.
  18. Had to look up that bridge on Google. It wasn't at all what I had been expecting. Wonder will it get rebuilt? Shame to lose something like that over a bit of water.
  19. All this time I've been boiling kettles, when I coulda gotten free hot water from the sea !
  20. Uhm the gulf stream gives us the climate we have AFAIK, if that goes. Well, look at the earth in 2D and compare us to other similar latitudes. Get your igloo building skills up to date
  21. Well mine finally arrived this morning from the other side of the planet That's the good news. Bad news is I won't be able to install and use it for another couple of days lol. I'm eager to see how it compares to a 100W incandescent bulb. It's supposed to draw 1/3 of the power, be brighter and give more distance than the 100W. Colour temperature, off the top of my head was 4300k. Lightforce say anything over 5000k just creates glare, like those tossers driving around with HIDs which just blind everyone, or the cheap Chinese HID's that are mostly 6000k +. The other bad
  22. I got a Lansky sharpening system, I find it very good, there are three different stones, a clamp for the blade which also has angle guides, hard to go wrong with it really.
