  1. FACT !...........nothing to do with anything, it just hadn’t been written for a while ! Lol
  2. Keep voting major party, you know it makes sense ! Lol Yis Barmy Fred
  3. Bwok Bwok Bwok Bwok ?????............Lol ? ? (Max told me to say it! ?)
  4. Mate, you would be no different to any other dad in the world, you’d deal with whatever you had to deal with because that is just what you do ?
  5. Not at all mate, what you gonna do, send them back ? Lol This is imho the hardest thing to get your head round, i was a very “black & white just get on with it” type bloke myself and with the kids until my youngest. And the thing I had to teach myself is that they can’t “just get on with it” anymore than I can teach myself to fly......they are hard wired that way. In many ways they are having to exist in a world where everyone and everything is weird to them.......like being the only sane bloke in the asylum. That is the battle they face every day when they wake up.
  6. Britain, first in the world.........again ! ??
  7. Flys off the handle if folks wind him up mate. Its good and bad really but his sisters and especially his big brother don’t really give him any special treatment which can’t hurt, his big brother will sometimes wind him up unmercifully. But then you see them doing little things looking after him. His oldest sister is a mum, his younger sister is pretty blunt with him and don’t give him many excuses which I actually think is good, his big brother gets tormented and torments him back but then you will see him helping him do that or that, fixing him food or drinks. It’s a dece
  8. @king & @Blackmag How are your lads for swimming ? My little boy absolutely loves swimming, I think the sensory thing of being in the water is something that really benefits him
  9. She is spot on mate, obviously I grew up with her as we are nearly the same age. Her brother (my nephew) is the same age as me and lives across the road From his dad with his family so it’s a comfort for my Brother that he is there. My Brother is in his 70s and his health isn’t great so it must be a worry for him.
  10. My niece has Down’s syndrome, she is a ripe old old age for a Down’s syndrome person being nearly 50. My brother took that girl everywhere with him all her life, always just treated her pretty normal......where he was, she was. I think she was as well known round South London as anyone ! Lol She still lives at home and it has been difficult at times but she has a job at the centre and does her bits and bobs at home.
  11. Out of likes lads but as you said, they all deserve one ?
  12. Only lads who have the experience of autistic kids will understand how much it means to hear that mate ? Thank you
  13. My little lad had an incident with a teacher when he first started school, as you know lads temper can be an issue. They wanted him to colour in a clown, so he says “I don’t like clowns” Now the inexperienced teacher tried to force him and he just coloured the whole thing black so he “couldn’t see it” as he said. She told him off and he went and sat under a table. The next bit was the mistake, she pulled him out by force and he went nuts, he was only 5 and he must have been terrified. Two teachers physically removed him from the room and he was lashing out to get away
  14. That’s a massive win mate, he has something he loves and thrives in and that is worth the world in my book pal ?
  15. That’s lovely mate that he has a place he feels comfortable like that, as you know, it just has to be right for them and there’s no problem.
  16. Oh mate, tell me about it ! ?
  17. One of the things I find hard is that my little lad can’t do team sport. He just can’t deal with all the people and the demands that just naturally come from getting coached at team sport. He says to me “I’d like to dad but I can’t” , feel so sorry for him in those moments. However, I take him every now and again and ask him if he wants to join in, he never does but you never know one day he just might.
  18. Only sometimes mate, normally if it’s something he don’t want to listen too ! Lol If he is explaining something to me he wants to look right at me then.
  19. Animals are a gift for my lad mate, it relaxes him and he just likes being with them.
  20. Did any of you lads kids get diagnosed with Demand Avoidance Syndrome ? PDA Pathological Demand Avoidance
  21. I was just saying on the other thread a thing my boy does is watch 2 programmes and design worlds in mine craft all at once and he won’t have missed a single thing in either programme and has designed houses and barns and countries and people dancing and all sorts all at the same time.
  22. I have not noticed anything with food, more mental overload. So for an instance my lad can sit and watch a programme on nature, a YouTube video on something else and design whole worlds on Minecraft all at the same time ! But too much of that and his mental stimulation is off the scale, he will be up at 8 and still bouncing off the walls at 1:30 am the following morning. Never noticed anything with food but we don’t eat much processed food anyway so wouldn’t really know
  23. I don’t know mate. Mine only sits at the table to eat when he feels like it, he grazes all day. At the minute he won’t use his fingers because of corona virus !! Lol So, toast has to be cut up and he uses a fork.....but if the fork touches something else he has to change it for a fresh fork ! All stuff like that.......we are used to it mate
  24. My youngest didn’t present any signs until he started school, we always knew he was a bit sparky but he had not problems in play school at all. The demands of regular school he just couldn’t deal with at all. They did an IQ test and he was off the chart, the woman couldn’t turn the pages of the test fast enough ! However, that was after it had taken him 45 minutes to decide wether he liked her enough to interact with her. Like King said, he does all the climbing thing. He absorbs knowledge but try and sit him down to do something with structure like reading and writing
