Absolutely not as technical as that reply there mate, but something you said stood out about dogs “acclimate” to a different diet. I noticed that lots of times in the past when folks who fed an almost total processed diet like Eukanuba or kibble said their dog wouldn’t take to raw feed. I always fed my dogs everything, I believed they never got fussy that way where as people who stuck to a regular single type diet, the dogs seem to “shock” if they changed it. Mine would get minced chicken and then all the home leftovers dumped on top, pigs heads, whole rabbits skin on and g

I was in Soho one night with a couple of Pals stood outside Paul Raymond’s place and a couple of spades was stood opposite looking for punters for a brass they probably had tucked away somewhere, anyway, old bill pulled up and it sounded like the spades had dropped the cutlery draw ! Load of blades and other assorted implements on the floor and they did a runner.

I don’t believe that was the intention, from what I have read they would be parted and then the dog having the worst of it would be released to see if it wanted to go again within like 10 seconds or something….if it didn’t then it was withdrawn. Owners could withdraw a dog too but not the “ref” I think that’s how it worked but what I read could be wrong ?

Danny bought himself one I believe ! The lads you bumped into, don’t know what age they were, but if they were old fogeys I probably know them and if they were youngsters they were probably the sons of some of the old fogeys I know ! Lol Great really that little bit of British sub-culture is still alive and well.

No mate, it was just a place the Stanford Parkas used to gather. They held a couple of northern soul night there and at shell club….my pal old Alec used to organise them.

I know Connolly (father and son) were raving communists and the son (I think) travelled to Russia to meet with Lenin. The Russians hoped it would spark a wider communist revolution in Europe and who better to start with than the biggest imperial power in the world. There was (despite the English treatment of Ireland) no great hankering for breaking the union until the likes of Connolly and those like him started fanning the flames. Thats how I understand it. It (imho) damaged both of us greatly.

At the time of and leading up to the Easter rising mate. Some of the main people to stir that up were avowed communists. I know it all gets wildly complicated and I admit to not having a deep enough knowledge of all of it including the following civil war but I know a few bits.

No, you wouldn’t !…..I have done man work with dogs and the last thing you want to train a dog to that level is one that will take your face off of its own accord. Anyway, let’s not take the thread off track, it’s about a specific kind of dog and there’s men with a specific kind of knowledge talking about it, so let’s enjoy huh ?

I don’t know mate, I don’t know enough about them. A total know nothing like me on the subject would assume that is the case but maybe it isn’t ?……I know this much, some dogs know what their work is and what it isn’t so that could be the case with these ? Ill wait and see what somebody who has experience and knowledge says ? Maybe that’s you?….maybe it isn’t ? Lets see ? Edited to add: I suppose it’s like saying all man work dogs need to be manny ?…..but the reality is quiet the opposite

I don’t think a dog needs to be a raving lunatic around everything to be good at it’s job, I had a dog that was lovely to be around, would find a corner away from other dogs in company or the back of a car, wouldn’t show any aggression at all to people or other dogs……but he would break a fox in the little pieces in 30 seconds flat and was mad to get at them. Anyway, that’s lurchers and this is something else…..I think these dogs sound a much more sophisticated tool to own, train and work and I’m enjoying reading all these lads tales ?

Everyone is too rich because of it mate, too many vested interests…..from farmers to TDs, nobody wants the money fountain to stop save a few free thinkers. I don’t want to get into the whole Britain/Ireland thing but the communists who stoked the flames of splitting from Britain under the banner of Sinn Fein diminished both of us it could be argued…..which is exactly what they wanted to do. What do you think ?
