The most versatile size would be between 23 to 25 imho............a dog 20 or under will limit your options, especially as a first dog as your hunting may change. A bigger (be that height or weight) dog of the right sort will overall be more humane on certain quarry, again jmho. There is no "shame" in owning a small dog or a big dog if you have them for the right reasons......its these idiots that say they take hundreds of fallow bucks with 20 inch dogs that cause the nonsense..........we know its bollocks and they know it bollocks. Many of the Indians I deal with still have private boys club on a Friday after work and its human nature to desire that which we cant have, but in my limited understanding as a society all those things are frowned upon and carry stiff penaltys for transgressors.................which, I would hazard a guess, keeps a lid on things somewhat unlike our own society. A very simplistic question, what type of area would anyone rather bring up their children in........one that allowed all of the above or one that allowed none of it?

The real enemy to western european culture is us western europeans! We have turned away from our traditional christian moral value system in favour of modern "progressive" left wing/liberal principals. What type of ground do you hunt?........in small places a smaller dog is good but take them out onto more open ground and something with more leg may be required?..........jmho

Bird, Snatch is a brilliant lad and one of my regular hunting pals....he loves it mate, we have to try and get him to curb his enthusiasm a bit as getting a phonecall in the wee small hours of the morning and getting texts at 05:00 when he spotted a few bits and bobs is a bit mad! lol He still talks about this trip now and would love to go back.
