Now I will readily admit that I don't know shit about gun dogs, but my own opinion is that if you own working dogs the number one priority is always trying to find enough work for those dogs.......and it ain't easy. I agree, you should be compensated but that can come in many forms and if any working dog owner can get to,work their animal at what it was bred for then really any money is a bonus. To be honest, I have met a few blokes on shoots who only ever talk about money in some way, wether it be the price they are charging for their latest litter or the rates or how much it cost the

Funny enough I had the same and he was utter shite despite getting an absolute mountain of game put in front of him......2 and a bit years of my life, thousands in diesel and 1 L200 canopy all down the khazi !! i'll give you £20 for your canopy Not even funny fanny head, the canopy was my mates and he wouldn't take a penny off me for it.......I was f*****g gutted! It's no fun when you have to admit defeat with a dog so why take a f*****g chance I say.

I would travel 180 mile round trip to give my pal a hand when he had a big day on, 25 sovs and a nice bowl of stew.....a couple of runs out on the estate once shooting had finished and a beaters day to get a crack at birds the regular guns are paying thousands for is more than generous in my opinion.

A bit like your Staffy, the dog came to us as an adult mate.....two old girls had him in Canterbury, he was in a little back room and they said to my old man " if you can get him, you can have him!" .......my old fella walked in, calmed the animal for a minute then lifted him and did no more than walk directly out the place and drop the dog on my mothers lap in the front of the motor!!!......funny enough, this mean bad to the bone dog would never even curl a lip to my mother for the rest of its life. When his time came, we could see the dog wasn't right but as usual he would not be f****d

Some will I am sure but in my experience mostly they don't like them around.....if you do, expect to keep it on a lead all day.

Well sell your dogs and pack up then!! What did you get your lab or spaniel for?? To work them I'm guessing, if it makes YOU feel better then start walking up every Saturday instead of picking up, I know which your dog will prefere.. When I was keepering I had folk giving up £200 a day at there work to come out with there dogs, but I guess I was lucky being surrounded by true dog folk.. I suggest you go speak to the police about who ever is holding the gun to your head making you go!! Spot on mate

I would volunteer my services as Scotland's Naval Chief of Staff ... in about 3 years after I've retired from the US Navy and from my civilian career as I'm not sure how much being an Admiral in Scotland's Navy would pay. Admiral's gotta eat ,after all. I don't think they would want a yank mate, if it kicks off they at least want a chance of winning !! Lol lol Only pulling ya leg !

The old dog was fine around the sheep and goats but a complete f****r round the horses, he would grab their tails and hang on for dear life getting the shit kicked out of him. I remember we came back to our small holding to find a load of turkey poults slaughtered, the old man blamed the dog and hit him with a shovel, flattened him for a second then up on his feet, give himself a shake and tottered off back to his place under one of the caravans. At our other place, the dog spent 3 weeks chewing through the fence just so he could get at the Airedale across the road......he did it, got out

Very, very similar to a dog I had as a kid back in the 70s........he was one bad old b*****d, in hindsight you wouldn't keep him now as he was stranger and dog aggressive. He just wanted to kill stuff and didn't really care what it was, refused to sleep indoors........an old character of a dog really and one that will always live in my memory
