I asked at our local vets the other day, said i would have to pay for the consultation as well as the jab, about £40, for 1 ferret! Also said they should have it before they come in to season, this isnt right, is it?

Hello Ned, I remember must be 10yrs ago now i hitched and worked on farms up the east coast of oz and 1 of my lifts were off a couple blokes who had just been pig hunting, i had to sit in the back next to the dogs and catch of the day, only a little pig, but the dogs were impressive! didnt like me next to there cages either, made for a uneasy ride, but impressive hounds! Brilliant thread! Your a great writer, really draws you in, you should try and get something published, i think ya capable. Keep up the good work and ya audieance up to date! Cheers Neil

Hello, Im trying to stock break my pup but anyone i know with sheep have lambs at the moment so they want me to keep away. Going up Dartmoor today to do a bit of work on it but a bit far to go on a regular basis. I live just outside of Exmouth Devon (Lympstone). happy to drive a bit. She will be on a line all the time so no risk to any stock. Have a mate who has goats but they wanna come up and have a go, not the same as a departing sheep. Any help will be greatly appretiated. Cheers Neil

Thanks for all the replys, i have tried most of them allready, but i think calling her over lots during a walk and praising lot but not putting on a lead i should try some more, you can see exactly whats going through her mind, "hes gonna take me home now, i dont wanna go home yet" apart from that im really happy with her progress for her age, the other day on the beach it was only a problem when we got near the steps to the car, she was coming to me before, she basically knew where the car was and thats why she wouldnt come. but shes young, shes doing really well, just a few things to brush up -
Hello, i have a 5mth collie/grey/whippet and when i take her out shes real good mostly, if im down the beach theres loads of distraction, people dogs etc, when she goes and say hello i keep on walking whistle her and 9 times outa 10 shell come straight away, i can usually get her to walk past with out going to greet them by distracting her. she can be a pain to get the last 10ft to me though. never runs off is allways close. The other day was down the beach and she was doing really well, was well happy with her but when we got to where i had parked the car it all changed, first she went to s

Thats a fair price for a vasectomised hobb. Your purely paying for the operation. But ya right, might have more luck on free ads, even if the price is fair. (edited for spelling)

With the barf diet it includes a set % of fruit and veg, but the raw meaty bone diet does not, what about fruit and veg? Hopefully picture attached of said pup -
Best dry puppy food?
driller killer replied to driller killer's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Thanks for all the input, its confused me even more i think. will have to read a few times to digest it all.But every think helps. One of the reasons i want to feed mixed dry/raw is down here it can be a bit difficult sourcing suitable meat. i can get raw pet mince form the butchers, most if not all offal. How does it affect them if fed too much offal? Chicken portions from iceland are cheap enough, fish is ok, bones and chicken frames fine to get. Dont feed wings no more as they were too small for her. Basically i am worried about supplying enough of the good stuff, and a dry food i though -
Best dry puppy food?
driller killer replied to driller killer's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
At least they've stopped adding BHA and BHT by the looks of things, so that's something. If you want to supplement with dry food, personally I'd keep it below 30% of the diet and go with something with a decent meat content. Having meat as the first named ingredient doesn't always (often?) mean it's a high meat product. For example: Sounds like it's packed with meat doesn't it? If you combine the "non-meat" ingredients though that food is likely to be mostly non-meat ingredients. Worse still imho is "splitting", where the manufacturer will split the ingredients list so that meat a -
Best dry puppy food?
driller killer replied to driller killer's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Cheers skycat, I have done a lot of research in to BARF, prefering the raw meaty bone diet (i know dry complete is not included in this). The pup gets fed 3 meals a day of meat and bones/offal/fish etc. she will only have the complete food while she is growing and developing, when shes older will be down to 1 or 2 meals a day. i know some people will disagree feeding the dry but i think there is good things to be had from dry also and providing the most variety i can is the best option. to tell you the truth she eats very little of the dry. Im happy i think leaving the dry down, she does not g -
Hello, I have a 12wk old lurcher pup, who is fed the raw meaty bone diet plus dry complete food that is allways down and she can eat when she wants. What would be the best type of dry puppy food to feed her, she is having 'Beta' (i think its called) but as she goes through this very slowly due to the meat as a better option i want to get the best possible complete for her. Any ideas??? Any help would be very appretiated. Cheers Neil
