Oops!! Sorry Timber I forgot to say that he did get a bitch called Chelsea that he wanted to try and mate with Patch but as you rightly said they were littermates..the Chelsea bitch is the dam to the Solo dog that I put a pic up of not too far back owned by a lad called Darren.. ATB Andy

Timber..aye the GH was a big fan of the Patch dog and also wee Meg too! Back in the winter of 1999 it was when I 1st took him out with my dogs.He had always heard of the MINSHAW bred dogs with being a dog lad and also a Cumbrian lad too,he had been out twice with Vic's son twice and the best they managed was 5 hares even after seeing nothing out of the ordinary he bought a dog off Vic in adulthood for a good few pound notes. The GH told me the dog wasn't worth a toss so he and his brother who kept coursing dogs weren't expecting to see anything they hadn't seen before..Patch and Meg were the t

Those pics are crackers Millet! Lil is coming along great,by feck does she look like old Kelsey with just a bit more of a collie mane on her? Is everything still going ok with her training or has she hit that "teenage" stage yet where you therefore have to put things on hold until they get the feck out of it! ATB Andy

nice buck that mate Ran better than this fecker David ..only had 1/2 a back leg? Maybe been hung up or in a road accident or suchlike? I have found loads over the years hanging by the back leg through the top strand of barbed wire..unfortunately most had already died although i have released several to roam free once again ..ATB Andy.

Here's a wee tale for Whin about freelancing and challenges ..well a bit of a fairy tale some would say? ... When the talk of "my dogs better than yours" starts floating around it's not long before challenges are put out either with fists or hopefully between the said mentioned dogs! This scenario was to happen between two owners of litter brothers bred from Vic's dog Blue. They were called Dan & Mick,T owned Dan and as S hunted with T it was to be those two that put out the challenge to J and Mick,i sort of tagged along with J at the time and had been running Mick over a period of

Hey up Johnny & Derbylad...i never actually owned Chester i bred him but my mate the Ginger Hunter owned him,i ran with the dog from day one until his last though ,he was a real good lurcher, knew when to drop a gear, made gear look pretty daft to be honest at times,,lovely dog to watch at work ..good fieldcraft, good pace, brilliant retriever and steady as a rock..Ginger Hunter actually got two pups from the litter he had one very similar in looks to Millet's pup Lil he called it Andy ..it was every bit the dog Chester was, took "earth" dwelling animals as good as a bull x,probably had a bi

Well I know feck all about fishing mate and no more about shooting and trapping haha so that's fecked that! Like Ive said before Whin there's men with dogs and then there's dog men..I'd like to think of myself as the latter? ATB Andy

To be honest Whin I ain't a jack of all trades lol...I'm just a dog lad who has been doing the rounds for a wee while,I ain't been lucky enough to hunt around the world like yourself and others? Hunt jack rabbits, bears etc: Would of loved to though lol..I just say my piece about MINSHAW type dogs because Ive been keeping them for a year or two and have been lucky to see plenty of them in the field..Minshaws Blue,Nigger,Rambo,Bulpa,Traveller,Chester,Jack,Growler and stacks more..I've seen some toppers and I've seen some duffers but that's lurchers for you.ATB Andy

Aye i get your drift Whin matey,I don't think it's EVER been shouted from the rooftops that these types were out and out hare dogs as far as I am aware? Lamping anything that's worth a few bob was more their forte IMO? Exceptions to that there will obviously be though? Personally I think they have shown great longevity in this owld game of hunting? It doesn't take a brain surgeon to know that the blood of the pinnacle dog of this type in Blue is getting thinner in dogs around today but IMO some of the dogs since Blue have been bloody good animals and are more than worthy of breeding off? ATB A

Not to sure about in Belfast mate but I do know there was one over there a couple of years ag that a lad called hang & bang had? It was a black un and he was selling it on because of personal reasons he said? Any chance it could be that one? ATB Andy
-
Whin I'm not wanting to draw an argument here but have you seen any dogs carrying the MINSHAW tag at work? I won't be coming back at you with snidey comments I'm just intrigued to know that's all matey? ATB Andy
