  11. Some really good points in there fella ..the inbreeding for one ..i know of several dogs that were as you say THICK!! to the point of almost putting a fella into the nut house ..due imo to too close inbreeding? ..one was a white and blue dog would you believe it called Blue ..it was out of Vic's Blue x Lou (Blue's daughter)..it was fecking mental,i never owned it but done a bit with it,jesus talk about thick ..also a dog called Mick that was out of Blue x his 1/2 sister Darkie..backward dog but could run a bit lol, that Taffy dog i posted a pic of way back out of Blue x his sister another
  12. Oh for sure i regret plenty Daz! I know some good as come from it though, yourself,Derbylad,Rabbithunter got dogs out of Chester and everyone knows how highly i rated that dog,he just wouldn't mate a bitch in the real world lol and it would of been a travesty if he never produced anything but fairplay to the fella for making the effort and putting up the £££ to get bitches artificially inseminated from Chester..it was just the darn amount of litters he spat out in a couple of years that kind of pissed me off..some of the bitches he was breeding off although well bred had seen next to nothing (h
  13. There will certainly be other dogs around the country that carry the Minshaw tag Jai and obviously some will be genuine people selling pups but then like you say there will be the ££££ grabbers...i'd advise people to be careful if they are interested in getting one of this type (although for what good they are i wouldn't bother) ..i already know of people saying they have littermates to the Don dog lol...and a dog beast at that...NOT a chance is there one on this side of the Irish Sea,people saying they have dogs bred out of Jack..yes there are but not pups..impossible he's dead!! Like Jai sa
  14. This is the true story of one of my previous hunting buddies,he was the owner of the little black bitch Kes,on one of the two occasions she was mated to Vic's Blue he kept himself a white and black dog called Lad,this dog was a beast of a dog,not over tall but built like a brick shithouse,he had legs on him like tree trunks .He was a fine running dog, lovely to watch at work, possessed all the qualities which you would associate with a class dog,he had staying power, field craft, strike and lots of pace, when this dog was just coming into what should of been his prime this dog was poisoned and kill
  15. It did kill a Staffy Daz yes..a couple of my old dogs Bulpa and Jack were b*****ds for scrapping if they ever got the chance..not just a flare up they knew how to fight..legs tucked back and proper to the death..f*****g frightening at times,Bulpa lived in a little kennel on a chain away from the other dogs and Jack had to be kenelled on his own or with a bitch (Kelsey)..you couldn't trust either of them as far as you could throw them but when hunting they could go in another dogs company no problem? Quirky feckers they were and to be honest although Swift is so laid back she has a real wicked
  16. never a truer word spoken! That wasn't the end of it though B There was still a sting in the tail for Vic Minshaw even after the Rip episode with Mad Michael,Vic tried to get revenge on the Gamekeeper by raiding his pheasant pens, this he done on a regular basis but eventually Mad Michael twigged on ,he telephoned the local Gamedealers and asked if they had been offered lots of pheasants and when he got the reply by Vic Minshaw from one of them this was all the evidence he needed to bring Vic infront of the local magistrates, they sent him to do his porridge for six months,so Mad Michae
  17. Aye thats what happened to Rip B ..bit of a f****r but you keep playing russian roulette and sooner or later your lucks gonna run out? ATB Andy.
  18. Vic Minshaw always states that the first dog which started this strain was Rip who was bred from along the lines of his fathers lines of racing whippets,he was basically a "mooching" dog, standing barely 21 inch,he was capable of killing daytime hares, tackling a fox, rabbits, pheasants but what he loved doing as much as anything was taking ducks off the local river or even the local Gamekeeper's ponds.I have also told this story of Rip,but i will tell it once more for those who don't know?.Vic Minshaw was a known poacher in the main and the local Gamekeeper who was known as Mad Michael had a tunn
  19. Oh aye B,he was hardly 24 1/2 tts i'd say but he could run and would get stuck into anything lol..seen him swinging off plenty of critters over the years, was a hard mouthed bugger ..ATB Andy.
  20. In the main Gareth they are just linebred lurcher x lurcher with the odd outcross matey
  21. I've told this tale before and most of you have probably read it or know the craic about how Vic Minshaw's dog Blue met his maker. If this dog had died of old age then that would of been fine, even if he had been killed when at work or through illness but no,this dog met a far more grisly end. When in his later years old Blue was seen regularly trawling the streets for whatever reason that may of been?,and even then he liked to think of himself as the best,in more ways than one.He was never frightened of anything and would never shirk a battle, but on this day the wrong dog crossed his path, for ev
  22. This is Jack and his son Chester...both dogs were good runners, great retrievers, excellent mouth on them and put some game to bed over the years ..ATB Andy.
  23. Thankyou fella ..it does help when you've been around a while i suppose ..i know lads who have done more than myself but don't bother with t'internet and such, just look at Chalkwarren and the graft he's done in this game and for a lot longer than i?,lot's of "die hards" of the hunting game around,i take my hat off to each and every one of them because i know to get up there with the best and last it out it takes SERIOUS dedication to the point of putting nearly all and sundry in your life on the backburner ...looking back i wouldn't change one thing when it comes to my hunting ways ...loo
