  1. Exactly the same for me. My only complaint has been availability at times my RFD has not been able to get any. I'm still waiting to try Eley subs , as above , all of my local RFD's always seem to be out of stock , John
  2. I use winchester super X in my cz varmint as well The worst ammo i ever tried was the copper coated cci subsonics. I could have got better accuracy with a catapult , John
  3. Hi all i found this item on the bay and i was just wondering if anybody has tried this product. The price is very cheap and i am thinking of buying one. 4. Hi all. Here's an update earlier from the author who started this debate : THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN! I was in one of my calls today and as luck would have it, a secretary of another gun club was there (she isn't always in the office). She isn't connected with the other secretary and in fairness she is a secretary of a more "upmarket" club that shoots over MOD ranges. I asked her this question " Here's a technical question for you; I was told by (the secretary of my club who she knows) that in July every FAC holder will have to be a member of an approved club, is this correct?". Her
  5. Hi all A friend of mine has just phoned and told me that , he has just read a posting on another forum that states : { in July the police forces across the UK will insist that all FAC holders are members of a NRA registered gun club. I did quiz her over this and she said, well wait and see it's going to happen } This would really bugger me up because , all my Rimfire shooting is for pest control , and even if i had the time to join a club , they all have massive waiting lists , and that's if you can get on one I was just wondering if any of you guys have heard anything alon
  6. Hi all As the title posting states , I'm after buying a Sak Silencer for a legal limit air rifle , and i have a couple of questions : 1 ) When buying a silencer for a legal limit Air Rifle , are there any kind of procedures you need to go through , like filling in forms , proof of ID etc , like you have to when buying for an FAC Rifle , or do you just pay the money and leave 2 ) Is the Sak Silencer universal for both AIR / RIMFIRE , or is there a different model for each one. Regards , John
  7. Comments like this really do p..s me off In truth , your so called experienced friends have probably never even shot an SX3 , let alone owned one. Well i do own one , so here's my opinion. About a year ago i decided to join the ranks and buy my first semi auto. I had used many semi auto's over the years , but had never owned one myself. After explaining this to a mate at work , he told me that he had recently bought a brand new Benelli m2 Cammo 12 gage , and invited me out to do some pigeon shooting so i could try out his new gun. I had never used an inertia shotgun before and i
  8. Hi FirstBlood. Here's a link that covers most , if not all , the UK procedure for obtaining an FAC, All the best, John http://homepage.ntlworld.com/steve.davidson1/fac_app.htm
  9. Hi all. As the posting title asks , what IS the difference ? I am new to shotguns and i have recently bought a red tipped extended invector plus signature choke for my Winchester SX3. Are both these chokes the same length ? Is the only difference the red tip ? There is also a 20 odd quid difference in price between the two. Here is a link to the site who sells these chokes , John http://www.breconretail.co.uk/About-Us-1-w.asp
  10. Ditto , and a lot cheaper than the Benellis and Berettas too
  11. Thanks garfield , Just what i was looking for John
  12. Hi all. As i've never done any kind of lamping before , i'm not certain what equipment i'll need to start off with. I've recently gained a permission to do some rabbit shooting from a High seat after dark and i'm quite interested in the Clulite Midi Led Gun Light. Details can be found here. http://www.cluson.co.uk/productsMain.aspx?CI_ID=358 What attracted me was the price of £75 and that includes : 150 lumen lamp head, 25/30mm gun mounting kit , rechargeable battery pack, mains charger and in line switch. I was just wondering if you guys could give me your opinions on this p
  13. On my CZ 452 Varmint i use a Parker Hale. When used with Winchester Subs the only noise i hear is the thud of the bullet strike
  14. Gunner11 As i've only been shooting shotguns for a couple of years, i think that halamrose's above comment is spot on. As a rifle shooter for many years i had nothing but trouble trying to hit where i aimed when i bought my first shotgun , a Lanber Sporting Delux 12g o/u. This gun was solely bought for Game shooting. I had a few clay pigeon lessons and i also invested in a couple of hours professional tuition. But the gun just didn't seem to fit me. Basically, over the next couple of years i had very limited success with the Lanber, especially when i was trying to hit our feathered fri
  15. Hi all. As the title states i was wondering if somebody could advise me on the correct method to pattern a shotgun. The reason i want to know is that i have recently bought a couple of extended choke tubes for my Winchester SX3 12g and i am curious how the patterns may or may not differ from the factory fitted flush ones. What distance should i shoot from and how large should the patterning target be. Also , should i aim at the Centre of the target or just beneath , as you would with a rifle with open sights , Regards , John
  16. Hi medic1281 A few months ago i bought my first autoloader and i opted for the Winchester SX3 Composite 12g. As i dont do clay pigeon i got the larger 31/2''chambered version rather than the 3'' model. So far the gun has not let me down once and the recoil is totally non existent. The loads i am using at present are RIO'S number 6's 70mm carts. As already stated , if you want the gun mainly for clay pigeon then go for the 3'' chambered version as this model will handle the lighter loads. The SX3 is also reputed to be the fastest semi auto in the world and there are a few li
  17. Thanks for the replys lads. The stuff i ordered arrived about 3 - 4 days later and all is how it should be , John
