  6. i might be getting a lab pup from a local chap, hes got 2 dog pups left, ive been told befor to look for a pup giving you eye contact, some one also told me with labs to chose one with dark eyes ( odd i know but apparently hes never had a nutter) any tips or things to look out for?
  7. Yes but if the oppurtunity arises I would take a free one, worth trying a free one before paying. Then I would have more to spend on other stuff (I want a shotgun Cert. etc;) And I rarely get paid for beating as it's like a private shoot. But I know of beats that would pay me. And I'd be lucky to get 30 quid a beat,if that's what you get lucky you ooow nicola just gave you a grilling! 30 is the standard pay up here, 35 for grouse, one grouse shoot near by even pays 45 just as an incentive for people to go (the hills are very steep)
  8. why cant you pay for one? you see good pups for £100 sometimes, so if your beating at £30 a pop saving would take no time! rob
  9. i never saw anything about badger baiting or hare coursing
  10. although its trajic, i heard them say it was a pit bull personally i dont belive its the breeds fault (like im sure some of you would think so) the breed was the dog of america in the 50's i recon its all in the raiseing of the animal. sad none the less
  11. Thankyou! Glad you like them.Yes! Dave, I did use the Choc lab deliberately but not so I would get Choc Whirehairs. The Choc lab that I used for picking up was bred by myself. He also pointed. I used a Choc. Because it does not carry a black gene and therefore will not interfere to much with the colour gene of the spin.(no black in spins)The wire coat obviously comes from the Spin. The answer to you last question is No! Don't particularly like the thought of a black one? Personal choice I suppose! I dare say that they would be ok! though. I would definately have another one or use this cross o
  12. thats a good picture of them! did you say they were choc lab x italian spinone? will they be bigger than a GWP x lab then? theres something about lab x HPR crosses that make them look like hunting dogs to me and not just a peg dog! its briliant
  13. that is pretty much what i was thinking of! exept the ones ive seen were black with full tails, got anymore pics of yours?
  14. sorry mate, i normally wear a jumper as well as a jacket when im out, and after a measuer i think it would be a bit too snug!

  16. i had upland ranging to phesant style or ground, so basicly an all rounder, they look like very nice dogs (just like a labrador with wire hair) and from what ive met of them i really like them, quite alot of grouse keepers round me have them.

  19. ive got a 5 year old springer and a 8 year old cocker, both are just pets but i really want a beating dog, but im not allowed to get a pup till after the summer. the cocker is from a good working kennel, has a stedy pace and i feel he would be great.... BUT when he hears a gun he seems to shut down and run for cover. is there a way i can cure this?
