Sorry I never answered you....I put them down as lurchers as my brother works insurance and reckons never lie about there breeding as they will look for any excuse not to pay out if it gets costly for them,,,,,it is nigh on impossible for them to prove you work your dogs ,,,,my bro reckons that dog insurance is not a big money spinner for his company but they have to do it as a lot of customers use one insurance company's for everything (car, house, etc) and he reckons some one like me is there worst nightmare,,,as 95 percent of dogs in the uk never go further than the end of there owners garde

thanks for the replys ,,,there was a bit of bone abnormality showing in the xray that,s what made me think about a boneman (maybe)...... you could tell the vet did not want to or could not give me anymore advice on the matter thats why they refered me to the specialist but he was sure there was nerve damage due to her having trouble passing a crap....i had a good look over her today in the sun and i noticed that when i touched her tail she did not notice so i got a pin and gave her tail a prick with it and i got no reaction from her ,,,she did not notice being pricked by a pin so it ain,t look

my whippet bull started to look a bit cramped up last week and i thought she was about to go on season as her cramping up in the stomach is normally her sign ....anyhow after a few days i decided to take her to the vet as she was walking about slowly and was starting to have trouble doing a shit so off we went and the vet was full of bad news he said she was showing signs of nerve or bone damage on the spine ,,,i was blown over as she is my best dog and i love her to bits... she had not ran into anything or had an accident to my knowledge so i asked for an x ray and she got one yesterday ,,,th

i have got an electric hen ,a 125 watt heat bulb and 250 watt bulb ...i only used the electric hen for the first few days then the little barstewards started sleeping on top of it so i put them under the 125 watt heat bulb ,,i like the heat bulb as i can see them at all times and they seem to spend more time jumping around under the bulb than they did under the elecric hen....horses for courses though

by the mesh from the internet,,,buy your feed from any pet supplier and then buy some warrens which will lay you eggs all day long ,,one thing when you add all the costs of keeping chickens you will be cheaper buying eggs in the supermarket ,,but it is a great feeling eating your own eggs and learning about looking after them....
-
i bought some so called thai birds of the bay last year and i ended up culling every bird barr one ,,one thing for sure was they were not thai ....never again for me but i,m sure there are good eggs out there sometimes just your luck i suppose ....

my wife rolls up any old bit of dark paper shines a torch down the hollow hole with the egg at the end and she can tell you in an instant by about a ten days if it is fertile or not ....unfertile and kick them out....no need for an egg candler in my mind ...diy it
-
sorry about your loss....i got a wee killer terrier... he will take on anything but he knows if he goes near my chickens i would kill him there and then.....this dog was not brought up with fowl but soon learned ..if i was you i would give him a good toe in the balls and lock him up for a week....i don,t agree with it not being the dogs fault feckin terriers will always push it to far and if it is anything like mine if he is not put in line sometimes he would have been put down years ago ...total anger management i call it......i am doing a lot of hatching this year so if you are after any you
-
they are thai x shamo and thai x asseel....i have them on 37.5 and 45% humidity which seems to be a standard setting ,,,i have been working away for a while and just returned to them at this stage ,,the wife set it all up and seems to have done alright for a first attempt ,,i read the manual and it said to up the humidity at day 18 so tonight i was playing about with it and it seems to be you just keep your finger on the plus button for 10 seconds and the humidity goes up into the 60,s.....i lost my best thai stag last week and it is important to me that these eggs hatch as i want to keep his
-
if the incubator is manual and not automatic then usualy afew days before the hatch date you stop turning them, and if it is automatic with a rocker/cradel then it is to be switched of ytree days before, hop this helps ..............thanks for that,,, it is auto and the eggs are day 15 now but when candeling they look like they are more advanced about day 18.....got me scratching my head a bit as i have never used a incubator before ....cheers
-
when you use one of these do you stop turning the eggs a few days before hatching ....

............i have been thinking that the weather may have got to him too as he is well wormed and none of the other birds are ill ....he lives out side and he was only recently evicted by the main stag of his clan and had taken to sleeping with my light sussex,s in a seperate coop....wish i could see him too as i can,t work it out ,,,for sure it,s not mites as i hate the things and my wife takes a bad reaction to a bite from them so i always keep on top of mites and louse etc.....my first thoughts were worms but she swears blind that he is clean ....does anyone else use panacur to worm there
-
my best stag from last years young is not well ...i am working away from home so can only go on what my wife has told me on the phone which is that he is looking well down and had a dirty arse so i told her to give him 5ml of panacur and to also start giving him coxiod in his water and to bring him in doors to keep warm but she just phoned me to say he is getting worse and is now unsteady on his feet,,,anybody got any ideas please as i had high hopes for this fella ..... cheers
