  1. Some great looking dogs, I certainly know what I'll be looking out for now. Many thanks for your replies. TT
  2. Hello all, I'm planning on getting a labrador in the near future. I'm after a jack of all trades, as I'm a novice at most things so the dog and I will muddle through learning together. Decided on a labrador, but slightly confused about their breeding. I'm after an athletic, slender type dog who can follow me on runs and long hikes, but keep seeing these chunky, tank like dogs out and about. Is this body shape down to lack of decent exercise, or is this genetic (the 'chunky pups' you see advertised). Either way, what's the best way of ensuring I get an athletic, slighter dog. Thank
  3. Hello all, Just in the process of applying for my first shotgun licence. When securing the cabinet, does it need to be bolted to the wall AND floor? To do both would mean removing the skirting (which I'd rather not do) or not removing the skirting but leaving a gap between the back of the cabinet and wall. Will the firearms officer be happy if I just use bricks or blocks, plonk the cabinet on that and bolt it to the wall? Many thanks in advance, TT
  4. Having gotten pretty wet on my last couple of shooting expeditions, I was wondering if anyone knew of any hardwearing and totally waterproof trousers. Ideally they should avoid sounding like a giant crisp packet the moment I move anywhere. Many thanks in advance TT
  5. Hello Mate, just seen the photo of your russell. I've got an almost identical one - did you get the dog from essex by any chance? Great looking dog by the way

  6. Hello all, Bit of a novice's question this. I know that it best not to rest a springer on any hard surface while shooting (such as fence post), but what about if the airrifle rests on the hand, and the hand on the post. Would this still cause the same problems? Thanks in advance for any advice. TT
  7. Hello mate, I'm near tonbridge, but able to travel no problems
  8. Hello, Would like to go ferreting with someone experienced in the Kent area. Considering getting ferrets, but want to learn the ropes first plus get any other advice. I appreciate that it is a big ask from a stranger, but there is a bottle of something in it if anyone is willing. Available weekends plus have 2 weeks off from this friday 15th. Many thanks in advance.
  9. I was lucky enough to spend a few weeks in Oregon and the PNW a couple of years back. Remember thinking at the time what an amazing place it would be for anyone who liked and form of hunting or fishing.Amazing state. Would love to see an pics if you have any. Best regards

  11. Hello all, I've just rehomed a Jack Russell X fell from a local dogs home, who I have finally managed to get down to a good weight and is looking in decent shape. Not sure the previous owners knew much about terriers, as I believe their idea of taking their dog out was parking up at the local park to throw a ball for him to fetch. As a result, the dog is obsessed with fetching his ball back and forth. He behaves nothing like a terrier should when out for walks. I'm not interested in sticking him down holes, but it would at least be nice to see him bushing for rabbits and behaving in a wa
