  5. Could be osteodystrophy copied from a site Osteodystrophy is also known as brittle bones. This disease was more common in the past, when ferrets were fed diets low in calcium. Young ferrets (usually around 6-12 weeks old) with osteodystrophy moved more like seals with their front legs pointing out to the side. Because the bones in their legs and spines are deformed and soft, they never completely recover. To avoid this, please make sure you give your ferret a balanced diet so that it gets all the necessary nutrients to keep it strong and healthy.

  11. The second ferret i got when i started out years ago was off a chap who worked his adults & did a lot of ratting with his dogs I answered an advert in the local rag & got a friend to take me , i was amazed at how many kits he had there must have been 40 , but he had a fantastic set up, it was spotless & his dogs were so well behaved round the kits He had a great big run which he had sectoned off at knee height into 4 areas , he had a mixture off kits in all 4 areas & they were amazingly tame , i remember there being a chair in the run & the chaps mother said he spe
  12. Good for you for standing by your age to sell rules, to many people are quick to get rid way before the kits are fully independent, they learn such a lot from each other & there mom. so many people get kits who just sit there huddled together for the first 2 weeks of gettting them home, they should be tazzing round like looneys , i have collected kits from all over the place in the past when i rescued & they should have still been with there mother basically

    New ferret

thats when i get phone calls, problem is kits are nearly adults and they become even harder to train. had around 20 pne calls already this year!!! problem is the more i take the more it costs still a home, working or pet is a good home. Thats the big killer of most rescues lack of money , fund raisings great but if you work alone and dont have a huge support network its impossible to do everything, the cost of neutering alone is crippling , even with a vets reduction , people just wont pay 50 quid for a speyed jill & thats just covering the neutering cost in some areas , so th

  22. It really annoys me kay, when someone who just moves into an area then starts throwing around unfounded rubbish.I realise now how the country people get pissed off with townies. She really does'nt want to start a feud with me i dont react well in these kind of situations All you can do is make sure you dont give her any reason to call anyone, its difficult if you have a lot off ferrets , but all i did here was made sure they were kept clean & that way you lesen any posible smells especially in summer , if she is going to cribb to environmental health she will have to have a reason ,
