any one local to me ?I need ferret help and advice .

she housed in a 3 storey hutch i built earlier this week it has wooden floors . although i think im gonna have rethink the design . as i say cant really handle her yet and was reluctant to just " srcuss " incase this caused her to be afraid of me any more than she already is . I wouldnt worry to much about nails unless there really overgrown , concentrate on getting her trust & plenty of snap down her for now If you add a run to her set up the slabs should keep her nails down -

What is she housed on a wooden floor or slabs ? What i would do if there really long is to feed a good meat meal & when she is full get her out & if you have a drop of olive oil put some on her tummy & while she is busy licking it off you can clip the ends of the nails, bellow the pink bit -

Did you find all the tools hard to sus out i just cant work nothing out , i deleted a trial of some photo editing thing basically as it was just so hard to understand yer i did yesturday but today i spent a couple hours trying to work all the tools out but i think i know every one nearly now just got a few more things i need to sus out what to do Why not put up the pics you have photoshopped i love looking at everyones piccies

Personally i think you should do a lot of reading up before you decide to get the ferrets, there not something you can stick in a hutch , feed every now & then , they need attention daily , handling daily , water daily & the mesh floors a bugger to keep clean it will attract flies & be caked in crap in no time unless your going to scrub it daily Shavings on the floor are beter , soak any mess up & they wont get sore feet of the urine

I would crate the pup , allowing time out when she is there to supervise & correct the dog if it attempts to chew

Well there going to need seeing to everyday , fresh water alone needs changing daily as does scooping out the toilet corner, especially in the summer so you would have to see to them everyday

The only time i have ever seperated is if i have had kits here in the past & theres been lots of rivalry over food i just split into groups of 2's & fed like that for a week or so if they were really bad

The male here is a total pig , i cant take my eyes off him for a second if theres anything about, tea bags the lot , he would empty the bin in seconds

I found the easiest way to tell if they were all getting there share was by handling daily , they loose weight quickly so it soons becomes apparent then just sort out who you think needs a little extra & you tend to sus out the pigs as well & as long as there not getting like tubs of lard leave them to it

Totally agree i have learned not to retaliate & it really gets to them, they hate it because you dont react , you can then quietly sit back & watch them rip each other to peices & then they have forgotten what they were being an arse wipe for in the first place
