  3. If it's colour you want how about this? FT
  4. That's a pretty irresponsible attitude, people like this cause us more grief than you can imagine! We run a well established ferret rescue and it's this kind of thinking that keeps us busy and as you can imagine get's my back up...... This last season there was an absolute glut of kits and we still have more than our fair share looking for homes! So if you value your ferrets get your hand in your pocket and do the decent thing, get em vasectomised or snipped it will not effect the working ability in fact in my opinion it makes it better but that is another thread going on here at p
  5. No problem mate, the dog is what you make of it. 3yr old and working well Regards FT
  6. Well said! Hi and welcome to the site. We are very pleased to be running the ferret events for SGF in 2009 and thanks for all the help in previous years. Regards FT East Coast Ferrets.
  7. If you are having a go at your own long nets for the 1st time you would probably be better off going down the sheet netting route. You can get sheet netting in various strengths ie 6z, 10z, 12z from a supplier such as Bridport nets http://www.bridportnets.co.uk or KP & S nets to name but a few. Then cut to length set your preferred bag attach poles and your away. Nowt to it, have a go you might surprise yourself. Regards FT
  8. Making and using a net that you have made yourself is very satisfying but if you take a 100yd long net with just 50% bagging you will have used 3.5 miles of twine and tied around 43 thousand knots a daunting prospect you will agree. But all that said there are those of us that still do it and continue to do so as we are trying to keep the old skills alive. Regards FT
  9. Jeez now i know i'm doing something wrong, usually mine sell for £2.50/net. No wonder i sell em as fast as i can make em. FT
  10. Silencer appears to be very efficient hardly makes any sound at all, Regards FT
  11. Go for it mate you won't regret it! Regards FT
  12. the answer to your question is "hell yes" If you are working with ferrets a long net of any form is ideal as backup to your purse nets. Invariably when you net up with purse nets you can sometimes miss the odd hole and that is the one you tend to lose rabbits from. So with the long net as backup chances are you will catch more. As to purse nets you can never have too many, i presently have 127 of various sizes and types and occasionally have not had enough. Regards FT
  13. Just bought myself a 2nd hand S16 and i know a lot of people loath em but me being a fairly big bloke with long arms it suits me down to the ground. Been out with it most of the afternoon 7 rabbits later and a big grin on my face. Like has been said earlier when you pick the right gun up you will know. Regards FT
  14. i bet the transport cost you a fortune to get that lot home though.... 500lt bottle and all OOPs can't you tell i'm a shite typist 5lts Apologies FT
  15. Seeing as it was such a shit christmas i stumbled upon an offer i could not turn down Logun S16, wierauch silencer, bushnell 3x12x40 scope, deben tracer gun light with red filter 2 mags and 500lt bottle £250 all in bloody near snatched his hand off, at least Dick Turpin had the decency to wear a mask. Regards FT
  16. That red waxed stuff needs to be double knotted mate. Otherwise you seem to be getting the hang of it. Regards FT
  17. Hi always change the spider & bearings together or you will be changing bearings again within 18 months! Ps don't forget to renew drum seal as well. Regards FT (ex Hotpoint Senior Engineer)
  18. In a word "yes" so long as they have a heavy weight draw cord fitted as the material tends to be a bit light' I use some fitted with a leaded drawcord usually seen in long mets. Regards FT
  19. Well Mat you can't win em all, like i said theres good days and bad days but at least the dog and the ferts had a run out. Had a word with the farmer and told him he was seeing things and he suggested that we might as well go were we think they are! So give us a ring next week and i'll scope out that other parcel of land i told you about this weekend (where i know there is some) As was said earlier landowner see's a few rabbits and he's on the phone saying help were infested! Regards FT
  20. If they were this years kits I would say that they would need a bit extra but as they are adults then they only need to be fed once a day, either meat or biscuits try to alternate these as ferts need to have some kind of meat on the bone to keep teeth clean, you say you are giving them "Tone" in the morning so really they are getting enough. You dont say how much dry food you are giving them, normally ferrets will only eat what they need but some ferrets will pig out, sounds to me you have one of these so you should monotor what she is eating. I find a handfull of biscuits will be en

  22. Our dogs have been fed on Vitalin for ages, plus meat and veg of course. Lurchers and greyhounds (all gone now) liked all of the different ones the older dog liked the musili soaked in hot water towards the end of his life, he was 19 yrs old. The Parsons have been fed on it all their life, started on puppy then onto crown working now Active. No skin problems, good coats and no sloppy poos. The wifes ferrets are fed on Vitalin Ferret, they look good on it. I would just like to add I would recommend this to anyone not because the wife runs a ferret rescue and is sponsored by V
