  2. I use a bunch of keys when I feed, same as whistling really, get the kits use to it and you will have no problems when out ferreting (you always have keys in your pocket). FT

  5. Hi Ferrets are fully grown and can reproduce at 10 months. In your original post do you mean grown or mature. IMO ferrets dont mature until they are about 18months. I start them with an experienced ferret in the last few weeks of the ferreting season, just to let them have a scout around the warrens, then put them away until September. I find them keen to go, but remember patience is a virtue. FT
  6. The operative word here is PATIENCE if they don't work straight away just keep trying, with a little encouragment eventually you will get a result. Not everything works first time out of the box! YIS FT
  7. Tried em, took my little horrors 20mins to take them off YIS FT
  8. Hi as promised some up to date pics of my part wild poleys as promised. Have put them in with some other kits i have to continue with the socialization process. They are now 6wks old and still handleable even more so now they are away from mum. Will continue with updates on a regular basis FT
  9. Basically because someone told me it could not be done! That is to produce a handlable mainly wild polecat, so when i get told things like that i have to have a go! ain't got the name ferret tamer for nowt had ferrets brought in here that were totally feral and sent them out tame as kittens. keep you all posted and will get some more pics today as that one is out of date FT
  10. If you go with Woodgas advice you won't go far wrong. Handle em as often as possible and you will have ferrets were you can shove your arm down a rabbit hole to pull em out with no fear of being bitten. A working ferret you have no confidence in is no good to you! All the best FT
  11. This is a pic of my part wild poleys the mother is a 75% wild polecat brought up from the gloucester area and the father is a 100% DNA tested welsh polecat. So far they are very tractable but time will tell, should have a head start though as i have handled the from 3 days old (after removing the mother to a seperate box as she would have put a pissed off wolverine to shame) Regards FT
  12. Hi all i always worked jills up until a couple of years ago when i was asked to ferret for a shooting syndicate so they could have something to waste a few cartridges on. anyway that morning the alarm failed on me and i dashed out of the house down to the court and grabbed the first 3 ferrets that came out. all 3 were albino castrated hobs but never mind thought i, i'll just put in an appearence and if the worst comes to worst i will just tell em theres nought in there. Anyway to cut a long story short we had a superb mornings sport shame they could'nt shoot to save their lives. the fer
  13. They work superbly well have two of them in the ferret sheds and hardly see any flies since installing them. I am using a fish meal based bait seems to work best. Regards FT

The one's i have have a few differences main one being a steel instep for digging and a full height waterproof liner. Still good boots but exspensive. Regards FT
