  1. A spoke too soon, missed this big male mole, the first time ? ,..he actually started tunnelling below this trap, to avoid entering it, but its proper stoney soil, so he gave up half way along the trap, & decided to tunnel round the side of it. So reset it in a different spot this morning, & had him in the trap by teatime there, when I checked. However doesn't look straight forward as you can see from the picture, he's in it but its well bunged with soil, & you can only see his snout ! ,.....Now, there may be another mole, who has came along discovered the dead mole & bunged tha
  2. Definitely mate, just looking at the range of gear available in them days, is impressive. I would have been a customer for them different types of old wooden mole traps, they had available up to the fifties I think ? (Perfection,....the full wood barrel one, was called) & one catalogue even featured mole spades, if I remember right ! (I will have a couple please, especially at them prices ! ?)
  3. Aye , your laughing mate, jobs a doddle now, with that quad !
  4. Well, youve just saved him paying a three figure sum, at least, in that situation (each to their own though)
  5. Aye, there's always one sooner or later, that can be awkward to get,...?
  6. Aye, & make sure you 'charge' enough for the job overall, mate ? (if that applies, of course ?)
  7. Aye, is there alot of damage in the garden ? (alot of hills , for example), maybe show us a picture ?
  8. Its a bad habit of mine, ..(i dont use punctuation, correctly, i reckon )although, that reply your on about, is open to question, actually ? ( i sense your a little annoyed at my responses ? lol,...well i learned a long while ago on here, having a 'thick skin' definitely helps !)
  9. Aye, its all down to personal preference with mole traps ? & i believe the Talpex (type) is/was popular ? (but again, not with me ! )
  10. As ive said before, that trap 'packs a punch' for what it is ?,.....& i would imagine when set correctly , mostly a humane enough capture ?,....but i wont be needing them,...
  11. Good picture,... (although i dont use that French trap),...you may get a few extra moles traversing at this time of year ? (& no, you wont get a new mole every couple of days, for evermore !!)
  12. Its Interesting you should mention " a quad" ?,.. cause this is the first time ive considered the possibilty of acquiring one (since i started over 20 odd year ago) Ive really felt the old wear & tear on the body more in recent times, you see,..but the problem is id really need to be able to justify the utility of it ?, and im not confident i really can , in these parts ? ,......this is also compounded by the fact that another mole catcher now operates (with quad) in my area, (last 3 or 4 year) and charges LESS than i would need to !!
  13. Aye, you can't go wrong providing the evidence ? lol (not quite the same with strychnine or gas ? ,....although the old 'snow' was effective alright ! ,..wait a minute , did I say 'gas' ?,...oh to hell with that stuff, couldn't rely on it ! )
  14. Looks good displayed like that, especially a good long line of them ? (& you've got the ground , for that, I'd bet ! lol)
  15. I don't mind them,....but any time i display them like that (not often) they tend to start disappearing off the line ? (& sooner rather than later ?)
  16. Did any of you see another article in 'Pest Magazine' , is it ? (not long ago) this "specialist" ? goes quite in depth on the subject. Maybe somebody can put it up ? (since I'm a bit 'thick' trying to do that sort of thing ? ? & just as well, or I would have put the 'Nicholls' piece up, for Mr Wasp ! lol)
  17. "very well put" ?,....well, not all of it ? lol & " The real art in molecatching is making a viable business out of it " ? yes, your right,... at the end of the day.
  18. "Catching moles is a piece of piss" ?, well that depends really ?,........"Catching enough day in day out year after year and making it pay isnt. So its easier to sell books, traps, courses and associations." ? yes, you certainly have a point there, but i dont believe it necessarily applies to all concerned ?,......."His book was crap, if you couldnt catch a mole before you wouldnt be able to after. i think it didnt even cover the basics. " Well, what book you talking about here ? , & im afraid your statement here probably isnt valid , or indeed accurate ? "At one time the mole
  19. oh mate , ive highlighted my reasons , a good few times on here before (be good to find the threads ? lol) ,....but maybe i will go into it again, tomorrow ? (as its 'lights out' for me shortly)
  20. Just occured to me there , Waspie , hes described in it, as a "living national treasure" to boot ! ha ha ha (youll be delighted , im sure ?)
