  1. I could be wrong but i think it's more of a practical thing, ie dogs with full drop ears are not as likely to have their ear canal fill up with dirt etc.
  2. Well for starters you can only hunt one species on your list legally so the dog you own will suit you :clapper:
  3. Here Here I have just this season aquired a promising hob who has learnt to pass through nets without disturbing them. If a ferret can barely pass through a 4 inch tube, then it doesn't sound too hopeful. ATB LD13
  4. MM, I think that statement may well be too broad . and possibly comes under the heading of BOLLOX
  5. Who knows if it's alot? if he only sold 5 dogs a year then yes, it would seem alot are on here for sale, if he sells considerably more, which i suspect he does, then maybe it just seems that way cos Hancock is so well known? Just a thought.
  6. Looks like a good day out mate. Must say i miss oing out with the foot pack ATB LD13
  7. Well, I must admit to a hell of a smile whilst on my assessment walk around Just looking forward o getting started now. Monday me thinks ATB LD13
  8. That has little to do with things like poor feet, crap coat, inbred agression. If you land with a pup with one or all of these issues . the question is surely there for people to answer from their own experience, not for people to judge all and sundry Just my interpretation of the question mind.
  9. Now, This answer is from personal experience, my worst was a 1st cross whippet Greyhound. He moved like greased weasel shite, but threw toes like they were going out of fashion , his skin tore like toilet tissue and you would think he was an undercover saluki, no recall ability when looking at something he might want to chase. which was everything  . i'm merely answering the question, not judging anyone elses dogs so no cowboys on high horses please.
  10. Yes to the couple of days on the trot. Fit ferrets should handle this well. And the set depends on the geography of it imo, if there are larger feeder sets about that you cant get too, a day or two should see more in it.
  11. Great photo's as ever. The best numbers on the north downs are in and around the private shooting woods. Lots of other mammals about too. Used to live in Sole Street and spent many a weekend wandering around there.. You'll be running up them hills in no time. ATB LD13

  13. I Bet they're glad they work for you . Poor buggers, course you can feed them on rabbit. just because i dont feed them rabbit they are poor beggers.....should i not feed them pheasant pigeon chicken either i bet im wrong doing that too Now Now, pick up your Dummy and put your toys back in the pram . The point being, it's fine to feed both fur and feather ATB LD13

  16. They are too big for fox mate, the 6ft spoil heap out the front gives them away. Stripy buggers they are mate.

  19. Well Made some phone calls yesterday and got some good replies. So, dropped the wife and little'un in town and went to see the land owner. All permission signed and sealed. Here's what i found... All looks fairly promissing, and i was p;easantly surprised when the land owner said to do that to start with, then he'll find me some more land, as he owns a large farm and another golf course?! I also approached the farm boardering the above land and got permission to cross the boarders while working the warrens. I'll post up my results of tommorrows trip after.
