I used to have a very good dog book , that was full of obscure dog breeds , and had pages and pages of obscure greyhound types from the Middle East / caucus regions with lovely illustrations on them all
if I remember rightly , saluki is a term applied to dogs that are judged to be clean , the smooth coated variants from the warmer climates of Iran etc are sloughis and a tasy / tazi is more a steppe running dog somewhere between a whippet and a greyhound
