  1. Yes i understand the process of how DNA testing is done but what im saying is unless they have a data base of Hh reared in captivity and hence something to check the dna against it would be completely useless?? How would they know that the parents and parents before them were not illegally imported?? And with the number of HarrisHawks breeders in this country i doubt there would be any market at all for imported smuggled birds because there really is no need for them? it would be like trying to import smuggled dogs...pointless! The RSPB know this which is why i think they arent taking much int
  2. When you get past the "how much stuff can i catch" and get to the "how well can my bird catch quarry" stage you may consider a Gos.Any person with half a inckling of sense can get a Harris to catch quarry, they are superb hawks at oppertunistic hunting puting in minimum effort for maximum results.I stopped flying harrises because it started to bore me a little, bolted rabbits is like shelling peas to a decent one and dropping out of trees onto game birds didnt do it for me.Thats why i went on to longwings for the sheer exileration of the chase, much like watching a gos take a winter cockbird in f
  3. Just in case they have any doubt that I lawfully bird the chick from my lawfully held parent birds that were lawfully bred by someone else. Didnt know it was possible to unlawfully breed harrises in this country, so still not sure where your coming from, if it were peregrines or something native then yes but harrises? Foxy You could always smuggle them in from abroad So how would the RSPB know that your chicks and there parents and there parents before them were bred in captivity and not 'smuggled" in from abroad by DNA testing? Unless they keep some DNA database on Ha

  6. Selling my Laurona 12 bore o/u shotgun to make room for a new semi auto for the geese next season. Its has a double trigger but the rear trigger fires both 28' barrels, good sturdy gun, ideal for rough shooting £150 ono PM for details, certificate holders only obviously...
  7. I had the very same experience with the break aways i bought off a forum member also, i was cast as a trouble maker for complaining though! live and learn mate! Foxy
  8. Some pics from the last week, nothing much happening so im pulling my traps in for the summer, any trapping in the next few months will be through work only.....bring on the winter!! lol
  9. If you mate want to fly deer with a goldie alongside your lurcher tell him to have a look at idiotsinfalconry.co.uk he would get on well there, its illegal in this country and the way you are describing you are going to do it im guessing he has very little experience with birds of prey if any at all, beating through the bushes??? thats not how eagles hunt! i doubt anyone breeding golidies will e daft enough to sell one to your friend after hearing this and god help him and the bird if they do! Foxy
  10. Someones going to kill themselvs or seriously injure themself shortly with these contraptions and its ashame its going to take that to get them banned.....wouldnt touch with a barge poll!! Foxy
  11. That sound very familiar. I believe certain parties on here have been fighting beaurocracy for years and are still not being listened to, whether it's trapping or snaring. I have no idea why or how the grey squirrel was introduced over here, or whether it escaped from small zoo, but the damage is done. MINK however, released by the numpty anti's have devastated our countryside and forced a lot of species to the edge of extinction. I would love to see those little sods exterminated. I am busy doing my part for the mink cull by avoiding them all together... Three body grip sets down by the
  12. I think they are only counting the likes of Mink, Squirrel, and a few bird species like the parakeet etc if rats and mice were included we would be talking hundreds of millions i reckon. Foxy
  13. Have to correct myself here after reading the paperwork again, they are estimating the cost that invasive species are having on the economy per year and the figure is said to be around £25 million, my mistake! definitely would be an gigantic task and would likely have to run or tens of years i would imagine. Foxy
  14. It most likely would be put out to tender but it would be a massive task! and that price wouldnt be far off the mark when you think about what would be involved, with manpower, vehicles equipment, health and safety gear and even just the man hours involved in planning a cull of that size, and everyone would want paid and would want paid well, from the guy providing the fuel for the trucks to the person deciding what ppe you should wear when doing it to the person checking the traps! not the type of thing that could be accomplished in a couple of years. Foxy
  15. Selling my dispatch pistol because it rarely gets used anymore, always have the rifle with me, its a co2 pistol in .22, nothing pretty to look at but does the job i used it for, £50 posted in the Uk, will come with a couple of powerlets aswell, PM if interested Foxy
  16. Started a Mink cull this week for a local water authority, they have a marina for winter storage and residential barges on a canal, three of the owners recently returned to open up their boats after the winter to find they had been trashed by the mink, one lady thought she had been broken into! sightings are just abut every day from the staff and residents and one resident has started a good photo album of them including a big dog mink facing down his collie! they have no fear of humans at all here, as one of the staff told me yesterday he just about got close enough to touch one the other we
  17. thats another season been and gone, puting my FHH down to moult but will be flying my male through for work, just wondering what has been peoples highs and lows of the season? ill start of, my lowest was my male harris being out for two nights and having to leave to go away for work while he was still missing...luckily he was found safe and well, my high point was my female taking a hen mallard in flight over a small quarry, was probably the best flight ive seen out of a harris to date, had a lump in my throat! lol so anyone care to share theirs? all the best Foxy
