I had a mole job in a garden last week and i'm guessing we are talking about the same very large company who had quoted £375 to gas the moles (which incidentley was working only 6' from the house). This chap was so pleased when I told him it would be £ he gave me an extra £20 to get myself a pint or two. Although i definitely agree with what you are saying about some of the prices (and dodgy surveying) from the big companys i cant help but think that some guys are selling themselvs short still? yes the big companys can charge crazy prices and the reason they can is that people pay th

our employer actually knows most pesties do "privates" and advised us bout public liability insurances, So your employer is giving its staff insurance advice on becoming a competitor??? no mate, not giving, advising, and as for competitor, totally different, our firm sub contracts to london underground, us night workers dont do any domestic property, so me doing households in my area, 40 plus miles from my work, is not what Id call being in competition with them and if anything, a disaplinary would come before dismissal, where I would argue my case, without blowing my own trumpe

Anyone got anything new ordered for this season? Im picking up a wee male perexsaker at the end of the month, an 08 bird flown but un-entered and have a female perexgyrxsaker coming in july, also toying with the idea of puting my male Harris up for breeding and replacing him with another female to fly in a cast with my current one, still undecided on that though, be good to hear others plans for the coming season. cheers

The bird of prey section at Blairdrummond safari park do the lantra begining falconry award, which will teach you everything you should know before you take on a Hawk of your own from housing feeding etc through to flying your bird free, you could do alot worse than give them a call or better still go and see them and there set up, the guys are really friendly and know there stuff. cheers Foxy

Hi there, a kestrel is definitely not a bird to start off with especially for kids, although they get very tame after training they require very accurate weight management being a small bird and with out any previous knowlege of managing a birds weight its a disaster waiting to happen, one cold day with the bird even slightly underweight and it will be dead within a few hours, definitely agree a barn owl would be a good choice to go for under the circumstances you have mentioned, good luck. How many eggs do harris hawks usually produce? Five so far.
Foxy09 replied to DEREK CANNING LLB[HONS]'s topic in Falconry
Yes i understand the process of how DNA testing is done but what im saying is unless they have a data base of Hh reared in captivity and hence something to check the dna against it would be completely useless?? How would they know that the parents and parents before them were not illegally imported?? And with the number of HarrisHawks breeders in this country i doubt there would be any market at all for imported smuggled birds because there really is no need for them? it would be like trying to import smuggled dogs...pointless! The RSPB know this which is why i think they arent taking much int -
