  1. Im thinking of getting some long nets but not sure on size, length or supplier. I was thinking about getting a 100 yard net or would I be better with two 50 yard nets. Or would an other length be better? What size is best 4oz or 6oz? is it like my ferret nets wherby every bit of crap gets stuck in the 4oz? What is the best place to get quality, yet low cost nets from? What else do I need apart from nets, poles and end pins? Any other advice you can offer me? Cheers
  2. I do the same for mine too, but I also put some of those plastic cat toy balls in. They seem to love jumping in and throwing them out. Problem is if I ever ferret near water they always try and go in for a little dip.
  3. Hi I've have been given permission to control the rabbit population on and around a nice hotel near me. However the owner is asking me how much do I want? for keeping the rabbits at bay. He is quite happy pay me to do this for him by means of shooting, fereting and trapping. But what should I charge? should it by the hour so much per visit or just a flat rate for the year. Like may people out their I would like to do this as a part time bussines for when I retire. Thanks
  4. Two of my Jills will be giving bith soon, they are in a hutch with two other jills that are not pregnent. Will it be ok to leave them all together when they give birth or do I need to split them? The two hobs were removed a bit ago and put into two other hutches to stop them fighting and killing any babies. Any advice would be great.
  5. I have a albino hob ferret free to good home, this ferret was found close to my work place but rather than send it to RSPCA I took it in. It has not been claimed so going free to good home, dont think he is that old and is very tame. pm me if interested im near Pontefract
  6. Sorry about your friend, Just say that your friend once mentioned to you the location of his safe keys, this you remembered and told his widow following his death. Cannot see police causing her any problems this way.
  7. Hi mate if it helps a week or so ago a came home from work with an albino hob that was found ruuning around. He seems quite a happy little sod but I have several ferrets of my own so if anyone whats him they will be quite welcome to have him. I'm quite close to you too.
  8. Hi Mate I've got the baikal 410 hushpower and I love it. I use mine when im ferreting rather than putting down nets feels more sporting. Its great on rats too. The only thing I would change about it is an extra shot or too. I was looking at the mossberg but got told that its not as quiet as the Baikal and a tit longer too. But I have never had a go of one so can only go buy what i've been told. Think you prob use same place as me swillington shooting supplies. last time I poped in I'm positive they had some of each in. As for ammo I use Eley 3" around £6.75 > £7.50 a box of 25.
  9. Good luck then, I was getting quite a few with young in them so decided to stop ferreting untill next season. Still take the odd one or two with guns when out or if i'm told to clear all the rabbits from a set place. What ya do with foxes after you shot them, is it a case of get ya spade out?
  10. Was tempted by FAC air but I did not see too much on the plus side. Thats why gone for 17hmr and 22lr
  11. Hi would love to, but no FAC as yet still on air rifles and shot guns. In the middle of my application for 22lr and 17hmr, fireamrs officer told me as im north yorks etc he would grant me an open ticket on first application so quite happy about this. What you using tonight on rabbits n foxes.
  12. Just what im after, wish you were closer.
  13. Great bit of kit me and my mate have one and would not part with em, seem to hold their price too. Have you had a look on gun trader? also think Swillington shooting supplies near leeds had some in.
  14. Hi I have three hutches all with litter trays in the corner, all my ferrets bar one use them. And that little sh*it likes to crap in the corner and pee it they tray. In fact last week some one handed me a ferret that they had found running around where they work,( great just what I needed a hob and my hobs hate him ) and he used the try from the start As for litter, I use that wood plup stuff and it seems fine more my lot.
  15. Yea get yourself out doing a bit of pigeon shooting That's what I will be up to, well If I can get my hands on some land anyway My ferreting land are not suitable for pigeon shooting sod's law
  16. Hi Sorry I missed this offer but if it comes up again I would love to come along, Im not far from you as my postal code is DN14. I tend either bolts the rabbits into nets or bolt them to be shot by shot guns depending on my surroundings. I also like to hunt with my airarms S410. Have own transport, Im 42years young and very responsible.
  17. Ferret found today outside HM Prison Leeds! If you have lost a ferret in this area please contact me with its details and I will be happy to bring you both back together.
  18. Dont do it! rats are dirty little buggers and they bite. If you think any thing about your ferrets stick to rabbits. plenty of other ways to clear rats.
  19. I feed mine as normal the night before then when I put them in their carry box the following morning I give them a little then to to keep em going. Then while out hunting when I have a break and a cuppa, I give them a drink and a bite to eat too. They still hunt and somtimes they kill down below but most of all they bolt the rabbits, but when they do kill they don't stay with them too long before they come up and out.
  20. Hi I started out by reading all I could about ferrets and talking to people at the ferret stands at game fairs . Then I built a hutch and fitted it out with all the other little bits (water bottle, bedding, dish ect)Then one day I came home with two kits one hob and a jill. Then before I new what had hit me my jill was having kits of her own (so make sure you do not go into it blind) When they were about a year old I got a set of locators, nets, a spade and most important some land to ferret on. I new no-one else who ferreted (and still don't) so off to the farm I went, found some sets n
  21. Had similar problem here too also west yorkshire, are the stables in Baildon or ?
  22. I've got a 410 baikal S/B hushpower and its bloody great If I could change anything it would be to make it more than one shot and to shorten the barrel a little. Saying that my mate has the same gun but the new stelth version and its about 2" shorter in the barrel. If you are happy to spend more money you could look at the mossberg 3 shot pump action, i have never tried one. Go for the baikal S/B you can get one for about half the price of a mossberg, and you dont have to walk around picking up your ejected carridges. Would not part with mine its ace
  23. I agree, as tempting as it might be it's poaching, there's some very good looking sets surrounding some of my permission but I can never get hold of the land owner, until then those tempting looking sets are out of bounds Thats what I think, looks like a great spot to ferret but its even better when you have permision to be on it leave the poaching to someone else.
  24. I agee On some of my land the locators go mad if you try and use them so here I use jills only with no locators.
