  1. I used these in my BSA supersport ss carbine years ago, they were total rubbish, didn't even try them in my mk1 rapid 7 as i heard stories of barrel damage with them being so hard.
  2. Are there any tufts of long grass about mate? they could be hiding in that.
  3. Well I would say both the keeper and you have the wrong attitude, If anybody took a shot at my dogs whether I was poaching or not I wouldn't be held responsible for my actions and would probably set fire to the whole plot of land! I think the debate on someones dogs getting shot (a few days ago) went along the same sort of lines.. as far as i'm concerned if your caught poaching you reap what you sow, of course the landowner / keeper has a job to do and its in everyones best interests to make sure matters are dealt with with respect to both sides. I don't think threats, empty or not
  4. what about a wax applied with wire wool?

  7. Feral pigeons??? You eat those flying rats????
  8. which ones do you prefer and why? what are the advantages and disadvantages of say the mk1 and the mk3? I've only ever used the mk1 and now i'm back into ferreting again the mk3 is out (can't believe when i sold up the last time i sold my 3 collars and 2 boxes for 65 quid) If only i knew they would go up in value, Why are the used mk1's going for almost as much money and a new mk3? I wish some other companies would start making thse devices as there isn't much too them therefore Deben can charge what they want for them...
  9. cut his fags down aswell then mate he's heading for a coronary
  10. How old is the ferret mate? Hobs are usually much bigger than the jills, try changing his diet, maybe a mix of 50% meat and 50% biscuits! also depends on the fat content of the foods you are feeding and how much exercise the ferret is getting, i've always had huge hobs, It's just the way most of them are.
  11. Always let the farmer know when you are going to be on his land, otherwise you might get some lead shot up your ass
  12. No worries, will keep you lot informed of our antics
  13. Aye it's a laugh a minute out with us, always something happening, whether it's one of us falling over, dogs running off miles away for no reason (they don't come with us now) diving down banks to catch rabbits or even Col catching rabbits in his bare hands, just don't mention the one that I dropped haha
  14. Might try and persuade Col's better half to let him out to play again tomorrow

  16. Well!!! We have just got in, had a bit of a mooch round one farm Rabbits galore mostly above ground in open fields, started off with a few small sets that the farmer wanted us to look at in one of his sheep fileds but nobody home and rabbits running down the hills alongside the walls, so went down to another set with about 5 holes, looked promising ferrets went down and were down a while, eventually come out wearing furry slippers so something down there, time to send in the big hob and mark it for us with the collar on as we always do and after a 18" did out comes rabbit number 1 in a stop en

  20. Excellent, top ferreting that, wonder if those High-Viz jackets will catch on though
  21. Aye feel free to copy them if they help then i'm all for it
  22. First things first mate, DO NOT! let the ferret know that you are scared of it, if you go to pick it up make sure you DO pich it up and not snatch your hand away as any sharp movements will make it wary and more nervous of you, open it's cage door and hold a few little titbits in your hands and let it come to you, let it take the titbits so you are building up a relationship and trust with it. If when you have got it in your hands and it's wriggling allover and restless i will hold it by the scruff of the neck between thumb and forefinger for a few seconds the get a good grip with the other ha
  23. Good luck, hope you have a belter of a day, and enjoy your 6am sleep in HAHAHA
